Ok...I have been looking to build one or all of the windows live cd/dvd/usb projects, so while this doesnt match the title exactly, most of the builds in the projects area are error prone...why publish a project for building when it is full of errors and no...NO!  newbie can figure it out.  and why should we have to.....I appreciate that everyone is doing this on their own, but why make something that you know does not work and then you need years of experience to figure it out?  I took a standard build of win7pe and ran it and builded the project to usb and it booted fine ...but honestly, other then accessing the internet [which it did not do natively out of the box] I could not affect the host  [c:\} in anyway It did not even see the host drive,  so, after that, I built a copy of every project that is supposed to be complete and truly, most of them would not compile without a shitload of errors..I am leaving builders names off but you guys should know because they post a build process and in the second and third   post tell you about the errors that they already know about...In this instance, as an educator,my opinion is that  these are bs products.  If it does not work...dont post it and offer it to the world for free.  So , someone tell me...what good are these things...what is the real use for them.  I built my own ubc4win, and a bartspe, and a make pe mustang using vista  and all of my projects work on every computer I have tested them on from notebooks running xp pro to desktop superfast gaming computer desktop.. why do mine work for everyone who uses them and I have only the experienced gained from having 11 children that will click on anything and force me to repair it, but some of these projects do not work at all .

In this instance, as an educator,my opinion is that  these are bs products.

I wonder what your opinion would have been were you NOT an educator. :whistling:

If it does not work...dont post it and offer it to the world for free.

Do you suggest that that the world should actually pay money for something that doesn't work?

So , someone tell me...what good are these things...what is the real use for them.

Have people posting here ranting about them things NOT working, what else? :dubbio:

I built my own ubc4win, and a bartspe, and a make pe mustang using vista  and all of my projects work on every computer I have tested them on from notebooks running xp pro to desktop superfast gaming computer desktop..

Good :), then you have NO need for yet another PE that might do (IF working) the exact same things that you can do currently with UBC4DWIN and BartPE.

why do mine work for everyone who uses them and I have only the experienced gained from having 11 children that will click on anything and force me to repair it, but some of these projects do not work at all .

Who knows, I have not 11 children, but I can make most builds work, and I am also not bad as a carpenter, maybe there was the full moon when you attempted building the PE.

BTW, on this board there are several builders and several projects, and while there is a BIG difference with an UBCD4WIN (which is largely pre-set in a given way) the essence is not particularly different form a BartPE (which without other plugins, added drivers, etc. is pretty much unuseful and as well adding them is not-so-trivial).

But I don't think that anyone came to your house and forced you at gun point to get a Win7PE and build it. :w00t:

Alternatives:

  1. Get a "better" builder/project/tool (there are excellent Linux distro's available for free)
  2. Use the original MS WinPE (which is freely available to everyone, unlike the XP based WinPE 1.x)
  3. Write your own builder.
  4. Ask for assistance with some specific error/issues you had, possibly toning a bit down your generic, all-embracing opinion (as an educator).
  5. Get a life, spend more time with your family and kids.

About suggestion #1, why not trying this one?
