Part of piriform's defraggler license:

3. PRODUCT LICENSE

In consideration of your agreeing to abide by the terms of this License and subject to your compliance with the terms of this License, Piriform grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Product for the following purposes and in the following manner:

- You may NOT resell, charge for, sub-license, rent, lease, loan or distribute the Product without our prior written consent. We reserve the right to withdraw any such consent (or part thereof) for any reason and without notice and to demand that you immediately cease any activity in respect of which permission is withdrawn.

- You may NOT repackage, translate, adapt, vary, modify, alter, create derivative works based upon, or integrate any other computer programs with, the Product in whole or in part.

I also wrote some scripts for Piriform products.

But I let the user install and do not include in the scripts:

License conditions for this application do not allow distribution.

You have to download it and install it locally.
For your comfortability, a (hopefully working) download URL can be found in install_from_local.xml

It is recommended to run the application once.
 - That will eventually update some configuration data.
 - Antivir applications perhaps will update to the latest visus definitions.
 - Internet applications may store some URLs of the user.
 - Maybe you can define the language of the application.

Then edit install_from_local.xml and actualise the "LocalFolder" key with your local path.

**** Do not change the keys "TargetFolder" and "RunFromRAM" in install_from_local.xml! ****

Maybe a good opportunity to contact the program authors and ask for a permission. I guess this is a situation where they are interested in people to use their software inside boot disks in a simple manner. :)

RegWrite - Type: [0x4] Section [HKLM\Tmp_Software\Piriform\Defraggler] Key [ReplaceWindowsDefrag]:

Can you help me?

It works fine on my win7 sp1 x64.  What version are you using?  Will look into it this evening.  Maybe requires an option in interface as well?

Nuno,

I can't duplicate the problem.  And that reg entry is pretty simple, so as to NOT use defraggler as the default, which should be the least problematic.

But your problem is during the actual script run - not the program.  Why would it error on a REG_DWORD key???

There is a syntax error in the line

RegWrite,HKLM,0x4,Tmp_Software\Piriform\Defraggler,ReplaceWindowsDefrag, 0x00000000

a space behind the last comma.

I konw you are only repeating whats on the Piriform website - 'Use Defraggler to defrag your entire hard drive, or individual files - unique in the industry'. However unique in the industry is not true - Raxco Perfectdisk also offers the ability to do the whole drive or individual files.

Amongst the many interpreted languages winbuilder is unique in not allowing spaces between parameters.

WinBuilder is unique in many other items, which cannot be processed by other script languages!

I would add to the above:

for a mere € 29,20 additional cost

In any case Ultradefrag (at the same cost of Defraggler ;)) can also do both drives and single files or folders:

http://sourceforge.n...ts/ultradefrag/

I got a response back from Piriform regarding use of the files in the script.

I sent this:  "I want to ask if you would grant permission to add defraggler to a script file that is used to install programs to a CD/DVD/USB for use under WinPE. The script is used by WinBuilder and the one I wrote includes the defraggler exe files, the DeFraggler icon and a simple product description; "Piriform Ltd. Disk Defragmenter (2.13.0.670)."

Response is:

Yes, that's fine. All credits and links are also appreciated.

Thanks for letting us know, it's useful for us to know all the different ways our software are being used.

If you ever have any questions or need anything, please feel free to email us at anytime.

Megan

PscEx,

Ok. Nospacesinline.  But then why does it work on my machine without complaint - and success in creating the reg?  Is it perhaps due to lang version???

Paraglider, Wonko

OK and meow.  I will remove the brag and correct the spacey line.  Everybody happy!

Voltaire, I suspect that it's the version (download build) of Win7PE / Win8PE that could be picky or not picky about the blank, I've not tried it with the blank character (I removed it, and it worked), maybe I'll do some testing and see what works and doesn't work.

I appreciate what you've done with this, I tested it with both 32 and 64 bit Win7PE (SP1) and 64 bit Win8PE, and it's worked great so far.

Voltaire, when I download the script I still get the "version 1" file - with the "blanks".

Could I be doing something wrong?
