I had Parted Magic 6.3 working on my 32 bit computer (launching it from g4d bootable usb). Recently got a 64 bit computer and couldn't get Parted Magic to run.

I downloaded the latest copy of PMagic (2013_02_28).

The old pmagic (6.3) had the following directory structure (which was in the root of my boot stick):

\pmagic

\pmagic\PMODULES

\pmagic\BZIMAGE

\pmagic\INITRAMFS

And the code I was using in menu.lst was:

title Parted Magic Live CD (6.3)
root (hd0,0)
map --heads=0 --sectors-per-track=0 (hd0,0)/pmagic-6.3.iso (0xff) || map --heads=0 --sectors-per-track=0 --mem (hd0,0)/pmagic-6.3.iso (0xff)
map --hook
chainloader (0xff)

The latest pmagic directory structure (once extracted from the iso) looks like this:

\pmagic

\pmagic\pmodules

\pmagic\bzImage

\pmagic\bzImage64

\pmagic\initrd.img

Anybody how I should code this in menu.lst to launch the 64 bit version of PMagic?

try this for the iso file no extraction

title Parted Magic \nLinux Live with network
find --set-root /pmagic_2013_02_28.iso
# map /pmagic_2013_02_28.iso (0xff)
map --heads=0 --sectors-per-track=0 /pmagic_2013_02_28.iso (0xff)
map --hook
root (0xff)
kernel /pmagic/bzImage edd=off  load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=0 rw vga=normal sleep=10 loglevel=0 max_loop=256 vmalloc=384MiB keymap=us iso_filename=/pmagic_2013_02_28.iso
initrd /pmagic/initrd.img

Got it. Found some code on the Parted Magic site.

I moved the pmagic folder to \ISO\ to keep the root of the USB stick a little neater.

#Parted Magic 2013 64 bit
title PartedMagic
root (hd0,0)
kernel /ISO/pmagic/bzImage64 directory=ISO edd=off load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=0 rw vga=normal loglevel=9 max_loop=256 vmalloc=288MiB
initrd /ISO/pmagic/initrd.img

Sorry to be so retarded, but how do I do that? I don't see a 'Mark as Solved' button.

Use Easy2Boot v1 and you won't need to ever unpack ISOs or look for cheat codes again!

Or just use the partnew method on your menus.
