Hi, please refreash my memory,

I'm trying to boot the XPcli to Ram, the version of minixp, with Winvblock,

on real hardware.

I boot from Usb with Plop, then map --mem with a menu.lst, chainload ntldr, but to no avail.

Please could you point me to a thread,

Thanks..

Why not posting the EXACT menu.lst contents?

AND a link to the EXACT source of it?

HOW EXACTLY did you add Winvblock driver to the image?

WHY EXACTLY are you using Winvblock, and NOT firadisk and/or other approaches?

Do we have to assume that "to no avail" means BSOD with STOP ERROR 0x0000007b or WHAT? :dubbio:

Etc., etc.....

Wonko

Thanks,

trying in qemu,

having an outer img (as hd0,0), booting with grldr fd,

and an minixp image inside hd0,

changing the wvblock driver inside latter to a bigger binary,

menu.lst

map (hd0,0)/minixp.img (hd0,0)

map --hook

root (hd0,0)

chainloader /ntldr

boot

Works.

But, as it's Qemu, the newly mapped (hd0,0) Would work in any case, probably..

Left to try on real hardware again..

And the fact I redid an image, with mbr, rather than superfloppy,

might be a reason for a diff. result..

Btw, anyone know the reg to have xp ok with less than 64MB..?

I must need to have my babelfish replaced :frusty:, though I fear that even with a working one, that would still sound to me like Vogon Poetry.

Having a senceful, complete, ordered report from you is seemingly impossible. :(

What perplexes me the most :dubbio: about these is how you cannot understand how, besides lessening the probabilities to be helped, you may get otherwise willing helping members to the point of downright ignoring your posts.

I will leave with the usual link to the standard litany :whistling::
