Can I have some data?

How many Linux distro's have you tested?

Which was the testing procedure?

How many months did the testing process take?

How was it determined that PCLinuxOS was the "best" one among the tested distro's?

at last, i managed to follow steve6375's tutorial on how make persistent pclinuxos bootable from flash drive.  THANKS man, very outstanding!  God bless!  :1st:  :yahoo: :jump: :clapping:

here's what i did:

1. first, download pclinuxos kde4 fullmonty and rmprepusb latest version(if have the pclinuxos iso file, then download only rmprepusb).

A. PCLINUXOS
   http://www.terasaur.org/torrent/download/4f9a7e3a7769f120d3924b05775d82a4a916c89e/pclinuxos-kde-fullmonty-2012.09.iso.torrent

B. RMPREPUSB
   http://www.rmprepusb.com/documents/release-2-0/Install_RMPrepUSB_Full_v2.1.654.zip?attredirects=0&d=1

2. extract the RMPREPUSB zip file and install.

3. prepare 8 GB or larger flash drive to be formatted(be sure to backup your important files)

4. launch RMPREPUSB(right click, run as Administrator) then select FAT32 and check Boot as HDD then click Prepare Drive.

    (do not quit RMPREPUSB)

5. next, select Install grub4dos(just click "yes or ok" for prompts). then press F4 function key to create a menu.lst

(if there's a prompt, click yes and close notepad or similar text editor as it displays.)

    (do not quit RMPREPUSB)

6. locate your flash drive and create a folder name "_ISO" then enter it and create another folder name "linux".

ex. F:\_ISO\linux (F is the drive letter of the flash drive)

7. copy the pclinuxos iso file(pclinuxos-kde-fullmonty-2012.09.iso) to the "linux" folder under "_ISO" folder.

(do not include other files, only the pclinuxos iso file)

8. go back to RMPREPUSB and press Ctrl+F2(click and hold Ctrl and press F2) to launch wincontig then click analyze to ensure that

    the ISO file is contiguous.

(in my case, there no problems meaning, no fragmented files)

    (do not quit RMPREPUSB)

9. open the menu.lst using notepad or similar editor from you flash drive and paste the code below. save and close the editor.

# - 2B WITH PERSISTENCE - PARTITION TABLE ENTRY 4 MUST BE EMPTY --

# FAT32 USB DRIVES ONLY - DOES NOT WORK ON NTFS USB DRIVES (livecd file not found)!

#must enable parttype output
debug on
# make empty table entry in 4th position in ptn table
parttype (hd0,3) | set check=
set check=%check:~-5,4% > nul
if "%check%"=="0x00" partnew (hd0,3) 0 0 0 > nul
if not "%check%"=="0x00" echo WARNING: PTN TABLE 4 IS ALREADY IN USE! && pause && configfile /menu.lst

iftitle [if exist (bd)/_ISO/linux/pclinuxos-kde-fullmonty-2012.09.iso] Boot pclinuxos-kde-fullmonty-2012.09.iso WITH PERSISTENCE
map (bd)/_ISO/linux/pclinuxos-kde-fullmonty-2012.09.iso (0xff)
map --hook
root (0xff) > nul
# set partition 4 of USB to be changes files which is formatted as ext2 filesystem
if exist (bd)/changes partnew (hd0,3) 0x00 (bd)/changes && echo Partition 4 now points to /changes file!
if not exist (bd)/changes echo WARNING: /changes file does not exist - SO NO PERSISTENCE! && pause
# change splash=silent to splash=verbose to see all messages
#To run from RAM use the copy2ram cheatcode
kernel /isolinux/vmlinuz fromusb bootfromiso=/_ISO/linux/pclinuxos-kde-fullmonty-2012.09.iso livecd=livecd root=/dev/rd/3 acpi=on vga=788 keyb=en vmalloc=256M nokmsboot splash=verbose changes_dev=LABEL=changes > nul
initrd /isolinux/initrd.gz > nul

10. go back again to RMPREPUSB and select Create Ext2 FS to make the OS persistent.  type  "changes" for the filename(do not

type  any filename, must be name "changes") and choose a suitable size (e.g. 256MB, 480MB, 900MB or 1GB - avoid 500MB,

there seems to be a problem with this size as stated by steve6375.

(in my case, i allocated 2GB or 2000MB so i can install additional packages, etc.)

(Wait until the file has been created successfully.)

11. so, there you have it a bootable persistent pclinuxos with many preinstalled programs, etc.  now, you can test it.  you just have

to configure BIOS to boot first to flash drive(refer to motherboard or laptop manual).

thanks to steve6375 for this wonderful tutorial.  he has many tutorials.  just visit the site: http://www.rmprepusb.com/

Outstanding!  God bless!  :1st:  :yahoo: :jump: :clapping:

2. free avast license keys here...

Hmmm :dubbio::

HOW DO I GET THE LICENSE KEY THAT IS VALID UNTIL 2038?
1. Quickly download Avast Free Antivirus 6.0 HERE 2. Use following activation key which is valid until 2038. However, use the key as soon as possible because Avast may block this leaked serial key code.
NOTE THAT: The license key is valid to activate Avast v4.8, Avast 5, and Avast 6.0.
and it is for non-commercial usage only

We are now into serialz, besides warez.

I have installed Mint and Pclinuxos (aka Pclos)

Mint is the best desktop distribution.

Other worth to try old distributions are Knoppix and Mepis

after days of searching for other linux os, i found out this portable pocket operating system: Slax Linux

according to the slax website, http://www.slax.org/en

Slax Linux your pocket operating system

Slax is a modern, portable, small and fast Linux operating system with a modular approach and outstanding design. Despite its small size, Slax provides a wide collection of pre-installed software for daily use, including a well organized graphical user interface and useful recovery tools for system administrators.

The modular approach gives you the ability to include any other software in Slax easily. If you're missing your favourite text editor, networking tool or game, simply download a module with the software and copy it to Slax, no need to install, no need to configure.

you can try the pocket os.  here are the steps:

1. download slax linux (download for usb - english us 32 bit to be compatible to old computers) by clicking the link below

        http://ftp.linux.cz/...-7.0.5-i486.zip

2. while downloading, prepare a 2GB or larger flash drive(be sure to backup first important files).

3. format the flash drive using Windows(right click the flash drive and select format) or use the HP USB Disk Storage Format

Tool 2.2.3(click the link below).  select FAT32 and check quick format and click OK.

        http://download1us.s...d/HPUSBDisk.exe

4. follow the simple tutorial from the slax website which can be found inside the downloaded archive, here it is:

a) Extract the contents of ZIP archive to your USB drive.
If you are using Windows, you will get for example E:\slax\
You probably already did this, just make sure you extracted
the archive to your USB drive and not to your local harddisk.

b) Now navigate to directory /slax/boot/ on your USB drive.
In Windows, it will be E:\slax\boot\ for example.
Use explorer or any other file manager for this task.

c) While you're in the boot directory, locate file bootinst.bat
Run it by doubleclicking it. It will setup your USB to boot.

-- That's it. Your USB device is now ready to boot slax.
-- You can safely delete this file (slax.txt), it's not needed.

5. you can carry it wherever you go to troubleshoot problems and malwares attacks.

6. you can extend the capabilities of slax linux by installing its modules.

        http://www.slax.org/en/modules.php

7. just the explore the slax website.

thanks to slax linux pocket os and its creators

 :good: :jump:

for clarifications on slax linux.

1. if you cannot access the slax website, just omit the /en.  so, http://www.slax.org

2. for HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool 2.2.3 to function properly in step number 3, be sure to plugin first your flash drive(be sure the important files inside are backed up) and launch the format tool with administrative priveleges by the right clicking HPUSBDisk.exe and select Run as administrator.  Be sure that the flash drive is detected then check the Quick Format and press Start.  Select Yes or OK as the prompt appears then close the format tool.
