I have downloaded all the files in the tutorials, but it fails every time with DirCopy - Failed to copy directory [%BaseDir%\Temp\Win7PE\BootWimSrc\Program Files\*.*] to: [%BaseDir%\Target\Win7PE\Program Files]: Unknown error

I do not see where any files are ever copied into BaseDir%\Temp\Win7PE\BootWimSrc\Program Files\

this all might be related to mount error

Run - Processing section: [CheckMountBootWim] From file: [%BaseDir%\Projects\win7pe\Build\0-preconfig.script]
IF - File does not exist: [%BaseDir%\Temp\Win7PE\BootWimSrc\Windows\regedit.exe] evaluated string: [If,NotExistFile,"%BootSRC%\Windows\regedit.exe",Message,"Error with mounting source!"]
Message: Error with mounting source!
IF - File does not exist: [%BaseDir%\Temp\Win7PE\BootWimSrc\Windows\regedit.exe] evaluated string: [If,NotExistFile,"%BootSRC%\Windows\regedit.exe",Exit,"Error with mounting source!"]
Error with mounting source!

What project are you talking about.

Usually we post under the topic that is relevant!

If you are referring to a WinBuilder project, then what have you specified as a Source folder?

sorry Steve, as I said newbee

I downloaded and installed WinBuilder 082 and Windows Automated Installation Kit for Windows 7 (WAIK).

I copied my Win7 co to a flodwe on my c: drive.

in WinBuilder a set the source and target.

i could not find configuration settings to edit

Winbuilder shows Multi 7pes,

when I click play I first receive a mounting error followed by the failure.

Making a win8pe from Windows 7 files must be a heck of a project/tutorial. :whistling:

@pbooms

Try using this project:

http://reboot.pro/fi...file/265-ezpe3/

http://reboot.pro/topic/17952-ezpe3/

it should be the simpler one to build with Windows 7 sources.

You will probably need some time "playing" with simpler projects like the above to "get the hang" of Winbuilder.

Try the “lite” version in this project:

http://reboot.pro/to...ivirus-project/

Almost impossible to fail if following the instructions & the guide.

@pbooms

We are not going very far this way.

Evidently you are doing *something* that is wrong, but if you do not detail WHAT you are doing, and you don't provide a full log, noone has ESP capabilities good enough to get from "error", "different error(s)" what it can be the issue.

Let's play like this:

  1. FORGET (temporarily) whatever you have read, or done.
  2. Start form scratch
  3. use the al_jo's project
  4. follow to the letter the mentioned quick guide: http://al-jo.net46.n...PEtutorial.html
  5. use the digitalriver iso as source (link given in the above) and NOT any other source
  6. use the folder C:\Win7source to extract the Windows 7 iso
  7. use the folder C:\Win7pe (as in the guide) to expand the package
  8. DO NOT change anything but what is specified in the guide
  9. only do up to step 3
  10. report what happens
  11. if you have any error, upload the FULL LOG to a free hosting site and post a link to it

Wonko

You DO NOT attach it.

Any difficult part in:

11. if you have any error, upload the FULL LOG to a free hosting site and post a link to it

? :dubbio:

Example of a suitable free file hosting site (there are hundreds of similar ones):

here is my log file

http://www2.zshare.ma/64bwejt0wmrd

Unfortunately it is not:

No such file with this filename

Possible causes of this error could be:

- The file expired because it was not downloaded for 60 days
- The file was deleted by its owner
- The file Copyrighted
- The file was deleted by ZSHARE Team because it didn't comply with our Terms of Use
- The file is a private file that you are not allowed to see, or you are not logged in.
- Our server turned evil and is now rebelling against us (not likely)

Try compressing the file into a zip archive, naming the archive something like Winbuilderlog.zip.

Try again uploading it.

Test the download (try downloading it from the link that you post).

Wonko

Yep, this time it "went through" :).
I see how it is difficult to have things done EXACTLY.
Your %SourceDir% is     C:\7-source, you were asked to use:

 6. use the folder C:\Win7source to extract the Windows 7 iso
Your ºseDir% is C:\winbuilder, you were asked to use:

7. use the folder C:\Win7pe (as in the guide) to expand the package

Mind you 99% probabilities are that the above changes have NO influence whatever on the failure or success, but if you are asked to do something EXACTLY or "to the letter" you should do as told (there are so many variables that checking the accuracy with which you replicate steps because you introduce your changes - no matter how trifling they may be - would become impossible).

The issue is at the very beginning of the run:
DirCopy - Failed to copy directory [ºseDir%\Projects\Tools\x86\*.*] to: [ºseDir%\Projects\Tools]: Unknown error
"translates" to:
Failed to copy directory [C:\winbuilder\Projects\Tools\x86\*.*] to: [C:\winbuilder\Projects\Tools]: Unknown error
which may mean that you have not write privileges to the target folder or that you cannot access the source one or that you did not right click on Winbuilder.exe and select "Run As Administrator", that your Antivirus is interfering with the execution of the program (if this is the case, disconnect, i.e. physically remove your net cable and disable the antivirus before trying again, remember to re-enable it before re-connecting to the internet)...

Please try again, start from clean, i.e. exit windows, switch the PC off, switch it on again and try following the steps in the instructions exactly (the reboot is advised because it may happen that something remains loaded from previous unsuccessful run).

AND from the log, you are still using the EzPE3 project, and NOT the al_jo's one, you know like:
1. FORGET (temporarily) whatever you have read, or done.
2. Start form scratch
3. use the al_jo's project

Which is this one:
http://reboot.pro/to...ivirus-project/
namely you want to use the "lite" version, this file:
http://al-jo.net46.net/7pe_lite.zip
