I already knew how to edit Win95/98 registry hives without resorting to the Win API, but read/write on XP/2003 hives from DOS is really new stuff to me.. :P

Nice finding! :P

@Nuno

Off course you'll need a NTFS Mounting program like NTFS4Dos

Would you like me to post more freeware to the dos section ?

You're more than welcome to post any freeware applications you find interesting for others to know in any section. It is always good to keep up with changes.

I've attached the source code for the project I've mentioned on my previous post, it is coded on delphi and allows to better understand the binary format of win hives.

Delphi sources can be ported to lazarus/freepascal code, and from there it could *likely* allow hives to be edited in mac, *nix and DOS machines outside windows environments.

Anyone knows where to find some documentation detailing the hive format on Win2000/XP/2003 ? :P

The source for Regview is available here:

http://paullee.ru/download/regvs.zip

This link was actually provided by the author of the delphi project I posted above..

Thanks malyarenko! :P

Edit:

Just noticed that the source comes with extension .pp? :P (anyone ever used this sort of compiler?)

But I'm happy because it's based on pascal.. :P

excellent, too bad that importing is not supported yet, but it looks like it is planned for later, nothing changes always the russians have the best stuff, even a trial period hack and a direct link to it. :P

Could some please post/upload a compiled regvs for dos?

Does it need a dos extender to run?

Thank you very much in advance!
