Hi Ludovici, this is a great find thanks for the mentioning. To help other readers, ludovici is talking about http://owncloud.org/
I am assembling a private machine to create my own storage room online, didn't know about this service and it sure looks superb.
While looking around the site, I see that they make available pre-configured images to run from USB/DVD. Look here: http://susestudio.co...ncloud-in-a-box
Will provide my feedback once I try out their service. Looks really cool.

First, you need to login and see the settings.
Also, you might need to see this: http://owncloud.org/support/webdav/ and http://owncloud.org/...t/ldap-backend/
Alternatively, you can use the the sync-clients: http://owncloud.org/sync-clients/
This could also be just a php dependencies problem. And I think it uses Sabredav as Webdav: http://code.google.com/p/sabredav/

Hello,
I've tested owncloud both at the reboot server and at a Windows machine using xampp (both with Apache as web server). One detail I should warn is to install the version available from http://owncloud.org/support/install/ otherwise you might confused and get some files from owncloud.com that will not be fully featured.
Owncloud can run with sqlite or mysql. I've tested the sqlite on windows and it was very nice (no hassle, portable install) but the extension was not working on the reboot server and there I used plain MySQL.
I didn't installed any debian packages. You just need to upload the files (plain php/js) and run the web installer.
Sync clients:
- Web browser interface works well (tested on chrome)
- I installed the android client but my web is too slow so I can't comment on quality there
- Linux (debian package) didn't installed. I was using Ubuntu, tried both the Ubuntu and debian releases with no success
- Windows requires admin rights to install, didn't proceed as I have no admin permissions on my workstation
