Win7PE Network Discovery
Posted 26 June 2012 - 05:39 PM
I have built a disk of Win7PE_SE (windows 7 Ultimate x86 SP1) which i downloaded from reboot.pro using WinBuilder 082. I have injected LAN drivers and when win7pe boots from the disk i have an internet connection and can browse the internet.
I can even setup a networked share drive from PE Network Manager and also start file sharing. The problem i am having is windows network discovery. Whenever i try to browse the network from easeus todo backup it won't show anything from the network. When i try to browse the network from "my computer" in windows i get network discovery is off. I am unable to start windows network discovey.
How am i able to get network discovery enabled and turned on because when i try to do it from Networking and Sharing Center --> Change advanced sharing settings nothing happends. I have tried to buld win7pe with standard and full file copy with no difference. There must be something i have to do to get netwrok discovery turned on becasue network discovery would be much better than mapping a drive as the network location can change.
I have seen other people with this problem, but i haven't seem any resolutions, but i see no reason why you can't enable network discovery in windows from the Win7PE boot disk.
Any help would be appreciated. If you need any further information let me know.

A workaround is to mount a networkshare as local drive, which works fine, both from within PENEtwork and Windows default tools.

I'm not uptodate but I think this service isn't included at the moment in Win7PE_SE
