What the HECK! :realmad:
I just came back and normal post linking doesn't work anymore :ranting2: ( and please don't §@ç#ing tell me that "it's the board software" :censored: ).

Since the dawn of time a post on the board could be pointed to as:
/index.php?showtopic=<thread>&st=<offset of post>
then one of the stupid board updates changed it to:
<thread>/page__st__<offset of post>

Now all links above go to "full pages" i.e. page__st__25, page__st__50, page__st__75, etc.

I hope that someone in charge understands that thanks to this setting a few thousands of (mostly useful :dubbio:) posted links are rendered useless. :frusty:

And I know I am wording this in a not very polite way, but I am really angry with this :argue: , it's not my intention to offend anyone :) but seeing years of contributions go waste in a poof  it's realy upsetting me :duff: .

Wonko

Can you provide me an example where this is occurring?

If it was removed on the latest upgrade, I can fill in a report asking to fix this issue and/or try to correct it by myself.

I'm also not enjoying the recent forum software update. Broke functionality on the downloads portal and nexus altogether. :(

--- edit ---
I've disabled the "friendly" URL that the forum uses by default. Please try again.

It is not about the "friendly" URL, it's about POST OFFSET!
Try clicking here:
http://reboot.pro/3717/page__st__174
http://reboot.pro/3717/page__st__175
http://reboot.pro/3717/page__st__176
http://reboot.pro/3717/page__st__177

I can assure you that until this last update each of the above link led to a different post, respectively at offset 174, 175, 176 and 177 in the thread (or if you prefer posts #175, #176, #177, #178).

Now the first one leads to post #151, whilst the three latter ones lead to post #176.

If you prefer, we have NO more "fractional" pages, compare with clicking these two:
http://www.msfn.org/...rs/page__st__20
http://www.msfn.org/...rs/page__st__21
(msfn has a default 20 posts per page, while reboot.pro has a 25 posts/page setting)

Try googling for: "site:reboot.pro Page 2.04", you will find a number of links to threads (to post #27 or offset 26), or try "site:reboot.pro Page 1.72"

Sorry my friend, that seems to be a "feature" from the new board and not an issue that I can solve directly.

I have reported this to the IPB bugtracker: http://community.inv...on-new-version/

And they just replied!
It's your fault :w00t: as you are using FURLS (whatever they are ):

bfarber
changed status to: Not a Bug

bfarber

Don't use furls and you will still have the old fashioned &st=# in the URL.

As often happens that is not really a reply, since we were seemingly forced "on the other" update to change from "&st=#" to "page__st__#"

If it helps
Right now this:
www.boot-land.net/forums/?showtopic=5306
resolves to:
http://reboot.pro/?showtopic=5306
BUT
www.boot-land.net/forums/?showtopic=5306&st=15
resolves to:
http://reboot.pro/5306/
and the previusly given links with "page__st__" are "rounded down" to "page size".

I have half an idea what the F in Furl is the acronym of, but I prefer to not use that 4 letter word.... :whistling:

oh well.. even thought it seems "my fault" I still couldn't help to smile.. :)

Glad to see this might have a solution. However, I have the short url working this way since 2010. If this is my fault, howcome it is not working just now and not before?

The only thing that changed was the forum upgrade..

Well, perhaps something can be changed somewhere, will check. Please bump again if no reply of progress is made within the next days.

Look again at the discussion on http://community.inv...on-new-version/

I've added a reply. No much else that I can do at this point.

Well, Mr. Farber seems like being still in FULL DENIAL mode :(.

I cannot say if the stupid update can be somehow fixed but surely negating the evidence is not the best approach if you are in the support business

Can you try - instead of linking to this thread - post there directly the contents of post #3, maybe this way he will test the different behaviour here and on MSFN and at least admit that the issue exists :dubbio:.

At the time of the MSFN board upgrade, as you might know I had to create a converter to be able to convert from links with various syntaxes:
http://www.msfn.org/...fn-board-theme/
http://www.msfn.org/...me/page__st__27
and following:
xper :worship: eventually fixed all of them, so it should be possible.

Sure, no problem. I will just wait for his reply and then re-post the contents of post 3 there.

I am also wrestling with the Nexus troubles. To date I can't still access the client area for hosting packages and it was working fine before the update as well.

I have paid support for Nexus in order to upgrade it as well. Still doesn't work, somehow I'm said it is the server fault and I can't really figure out where, albeit it was indeed working well until the forum upgrade took place. Oh well..

You could also solve through .htaccess and mod_rewrite

I don't know how to do it, but I'm sure it could be easily done that way.

Very good :dubbio:.
As useful as a bycicle to a fish. :w00t:
One could also use a transfixional sub-gamma-ray tera-condensating reactor, I am pretty sure that it could help but don't ask me how to build or operate one specifically. :frusty:

It should be done by adding a line like this in .htaccess:

RewriteRule ^(.*)&st=$ //page__st__$1

But I have not tested it and also I hate regexp.
It won't solve the low rounding issue, but, as the meme says, "It's something"

Well :dubbio:, actually that is the actual issue! :frusty:
