Most people around here will certainly known Opera, the web browser.
However, how many people from this room know "Opera mini". (raise your hands folks..)
What I came around to propose today is the little brother from Opera that is intended to run on mobile platforms with low bandwidth available.
If you read about Amazon Silk and the way it compresses web pages before sending them over to be seen on a kindle, opera mini does the same with the advantage that you don't need to spend money for a new device.
I tested Opera mini on my smartphone (android) and it is superb in terms of speed. I went ahead and tried to find a similar version for Windows and found the "mini" emulator straight from their pages.
You find it at http://www.opera.com...per/tools/mini/
If I'm not mistaken, the full Windows version of Opera also comes with the "turbo" option but I'm unable to try them both side-by-side on Windows to see which one wins in term of speed performance.
Opera Mini, simulatoropera mini
