Hello!

With True Image 2011 i used this code to boot from ISO:

title Acronis TrueImage 2011

map --mem (hd0,0)/boot/iso/AcronisMedia_2011.iso (hd32)

map --hook

chainloader (hd32)

boot

lock

Same code with an ISO of True Image 2012 does not work.
Seems that the mapping works, but the chainloader has a problem, because the computer is freezing then.

I tested the ISO by booting it in a VM. I dont have any problem there.

I downloader and installed the Acronis Home 30-day trial version and made an ISO. Works fine with same menu (I ran it from a USB HDD + grub4dos).

It will need 512MB of ram if you use the --mem keyword. Try deleting --mem and see if it works then (but it will be slower to run).

schousda, are you run ISO from usb device? Some old computers determine usb as floppy. Try to delete (hd0,0) from your code or use PLoP Boot Manager.

Oh no. You already write that mapping works... What error you see? Black screen, reboot or another?

Actually, ATIH 2012's "rescue disk" ISOs are probably the least of its many issues. Compared with its "system takeover" device class filter services and drivers that bypass your operating system's normal hardware abstraction layer, their bootable ISOs are relatively innocuous. And some of the current ATIH 2012 release's new "features", such as it's so-called "syncronization" capabilities, are marketing gimmicks of questionable value at best, assuming you're willing to pay for the required multiple licenses and can get them working at all with their new "phone home" activation nonsense. Don't take my word for it. Check the many end user reports in Acronis' own forum such as this one.

PLEASE take my advice and do a full-system backup before installing ATIH 2012. Even if you only install it on a trial basis, those OS HAL bypass filters can be nearly impossible to get rid of without BSOD problems if you try to uninstall Acronis and switch to anything else. For anyone who may be interested in further details about the registry CurrentControlSet leftovers that may persist indefinitely with system-altering effect, I've posted some additional info at Wilder Security.
