Win7 Versions in Retail DVD / ISO
Posted 11 November 2011 - 11:23 PM
I now read, that this isn't so. Acording to some posts on the net, there are still all versions included on each DVD. M$ only added a little configurations file which defines which version will be installed. Without it, Win7 asks just like before.
Now to my problem with the above. Yes i do get a dialog, asking about the version, but i checked and the iso of the different version, have NOT the same size.
If the contents of a itsy bitsy config file is all that's suppose to be different, why does the size of the iso differ by MB?
Has anyone fiddled with this?

As far as I know only the x86 and x64 versions have a big difference in the ISO sizes. The x64 ISO is bigger than the x86 ISO.
The configuration file is ei.cfg located in the sources folder. You can try removing that file or you can use a tool. http://code.kliu.org/misc/winisoutils/
Also now the direct links to Windows 7 SP1 media refresh edition has been leaked. You can download it directly from Digital River content.

Have to check the content of the files i downloaded. Maybe the links were mislabeled and it weren't all the same architecture / language.

Turns out all 3 have very different creation dates, while only the last one is suppose to be the refresh version.
Why would there be outdated images available on digital river?
