I went to a trade show and bought the UbiRock Alien version. I met the creator of these devices and he gave me a price reduction. WOW what a great Device.

Ask yourself. What would you want to carry. A Clunky set of speakers that might be a bit heavy or a pair of headphones that only you or two people at the most can listen to. Well This device wont cover the headphones area because the device is meant to be used as a source to create a speaker from almost anything around you. At time of post Amazon only shows one available of each. The White Rock version is heavier because it uses a white rock, While the Alien version is lighter and made of lighter Material.

Not a bad Comercial. The Last person on the video is the sister to the creator of UbiRock.

Shows toward the end of the bit how ubirock works.

This one shows the sound created when the device is placed on a desk. lol! They buy the desk instead of the speaker set.

Portable Vibration Speaker, UbiRock White Rock, Ideal for your iPhone, iPod, mp3, laptop by UbiRock
1 new from $64.99

Portable Vibration Speaker, UbiRock-Alien, Ideal for your Iphone, Ipod, mp3, and laptop by UbiRock1 new from $59.99

Technical Details

  • It is a new stylistic product of audio frequency minus the huge amplifier. It lets you enjoy different music effects when the speaker is placed on different mediums, such as wood, glass, walls and so on.
  • Power supply:DC5V Power consumption:3W Frequency:100Hz~20kHz
  • Idean for MP3, MP4,PC,Iphone, ipod,computer,mobile and etc Standard 3.5mm audio plug
  • The UbiRock works by transfering sound vibrations throughout any rigid flat surface, via the speaker's bottom, converting the surface into external speakers. The UbiRock works best on most tabletop surfaces. Surfaces that are flat and wide project great sound quality. Playback on different surfaces will produce different sound projections. This speaker contains a built-in battery that is rechargeable. Simply plug the USB cable into the speaker and connect the other end to a computer USB port to charge. Typical charge time is 1-2 hours

Made some Mock ups of my own. Sent an email to the creators to let them know about this post. If they like them I let them have the Images.

I guess, it can be useful for blind people to identify subjects by placing this device on them. How about sound quality - i.e. when a familiar song is playing, what do you actually hear from UbiRock on your desk? I mean, people design sophisticated speaker chambers for a reason - do they? :)

I had seen this on the web somewhere recently, and if you want pure, audiophile quality sound, then they may not be for you...but then an MP3 wouldn't be for you either as it isn't "lossless"...But for most people, they are "good enough" and portable! That is the trade-off...

If I recall correctly, they got a pretty good review...

Ive tried it on a Wooden Table, Metal on Side of Table and the Metal Desk Drawers, Wood House Door, House Side wall Wood, "Car Back, Front, Side, Glass", PlasticTrash Container outside, The Plastic house gutters, " Glass windows from house, truck, and car" and the pc Tower. The sound produced was G.R.E.A.T!
Tested using someones iphone, the Android phone, and ipod touch. Also tested on my Netbook.

Normal speakers sound from iphone, the Android phone, ipod touch, and Netbook
ok i can hear it ok. But
As far as sound produced from using the UbiRock, its like
WoW! Sound of sounds and voice is clear.

Tested the Movie 300 on the netbook in combination with the UbiRock. Its just Awesome!
The way i use it is by putting the UbiRock on-top of the box where the UbiRock came in. It creates a great speaker box. When done using the UbiRock, i just place it back in the box.

not a bad idea. They would need somekind of app for it.

Sound as i mention above is V--e---r-----y C--l--e---a----r. :1st:
On my netbook i have it with srs audio sandbox, Allows to increase volume and other things even more. Even without the program. Sound is great. :good:

Yeah! very portable. It comes with the UbiRock and a single cable . That cable has the mini usb that goes to the UbiRock , and the other end is split into two ends, 1 cable that goes to aux jack and the other has a USB side to recharge the batteries in the UbiRock. When you first get the UbiRock you charge it for about 3-4 hours before use.

Not really "news", (though I am happy to hear that this particular product works fine).
Similar devices have been around since a few years, examples:

Is it magnetic? if it was it would stick to vertical metal panels (like side of computer case). Also by putting a metal disc or magnet on the other side of a glass window, it would stick to the window. The metal disc outside the window could attach via a thin rubber sucker so it does not fall off when you pulled the UbiRock off the window from the inside. That would turn your whole window into a speaker without having to hold it there.

No, The bottom part is not magnetic. It does look like it would be, but its not.
