Nope it didn't do the trick. Same error message in the log-file.

Just to make it clear I didn't change anything, except this RAM-disk which I checked and after the error I unchecked it

After changing the "RAM target" and clicking "Apply", actual contents are not longer accessable and you have to rebuild everything.

That also appears when you do the change forward and back. Inspite visually you have the same situation, some necessary data are missing.

Maybe this forward / back can be handled in the next release ...

Well I give up for today :(

The clean/restore procedure brought back the IMDisk problem. Even a complete delete and then redownload/update didn't solve the problem. I ll give it a try again tomorrow.

The log-file

I got your log file, but I see it as endless text file, no html format.

Can you try to ZIP and upload the zipped file again.

Not only a copy of the text, but really the file!

See you tomorrow, to solve the remaining 99% of issues!

Peter

Let's not hurry up tonight.

But I would be glad to have a valid log. I think it needs some time to evaluate.

@piggos

There seems to be an issue with your local ImDisk installation.

MultiPE finds a registry entry pointing to the driver

RegRead - read specified key from: [HKLM]Section: [SystemCurrentControlSetServicesImDisk] Key: [ImagePath] to variable:: [%_Imdisk%] with value: [system32DRIVERSimdisk.sys]

But the driver is not in your windows directory.

IF - File does not exist: [C:Windowssystem32DRIVERSimdisk.sys] evaluated string: [If,Not,EXISTFILE,%WindowsDir%%_Imdisk%,Run,%PEF_Script%,Needs,"'RAM Boot' needs Imdisk installed!"]

Try to reinstall ImDisk.

Reinstalled IMDisk more than 5 times...

Could it be that I have Daemon-Tools also installed? And in some way blocks IMDisk?

EDIT:
The file exists in the C:Windowssystem32DRIVERS directory

The odd thing is that I successfully made once a UFD stick with WinXP and RAM Boot option enabled and I am using it...

Just comment in PEFactory.Script in [CheckImdisk] the last line which causes the error exit.
Let's see wether imdisk runs then.

EXACT same problem with my laptop also.

A completely fresh install there. Only Win7-Ultimatex64 and drivers (and of course IMDisk)...

Maybe here is the root of the issue.

Possibly Imdisk does not run on x64, or more probable that multiPE has to do something for running ImDisk on x64 host.

Can you start Imdisk from the Control Panel?
Wich language has your host?

IMDisk is for both x86/x64 systems. At least that is what the documentation says

About the install package
The install package is created using 7-zip sfx stubs and includes an .inf install script. No reboot is required after installing or uninstalling. The install package works on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 and on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

IMDIsk is working fine. I am loading ISOs and staff nice and easy
Language ENG to both my machines.

Do not forget that I managed to run MultiPE to my desktop flawlessly and created a WinXP/Win7 UFD that works for both systems. It stopped working after the complete CLEAN procedure I did. The build is similar. Win7x64 ENG. It may has to do with a/some scripts you updated lately.

Seems to be an issue of multiPE when running on x64 host.

I tried under Vista x64 and got the same error message.

I think that I have to check some redirections. Be patient for some hours!

Thanks for reporting that issue so detailled.

There has been a glitch in x64 redirection. I hope that it is now completelly fixed.

Get the new scripts from WinBuilder Download Center and try again.
(A small maybe: I debugged on a different host, and hopefully transferred all changes to the project for upload)

Thanks for your investigations, help and patience.

Great enhancement! :1st:

I integrated WimLib into multiPE version 36

custom.txt is generated using actual data.

Does this make it where you dont need to install Imdisk. In this new test on v36. I didnt get the question to install imdisk.

Tested LIveXP and built and booted.

Imdisk is only needed when you want to have a RAM Boot Image.

Factory settings is "No Image". Therefore you do not need ImDisk.
