Driver Import PE AE & 'busy' partitions
Posted 27 September 2011 - 07:57 AM
I added Partition Guru (PG) to the PE I normally use. When I try to, say, hide/unhide a partition using PG on the PE, I get a error message "Partition is busy. Partition needs to be unmounted ... ". If I carry on, I get a message "Unable to unmount".
I then tried EASEUS Partition Master instead and got a similar error "Error unmounting partition".
I tried a lot of combinations and found that this error only happens if I use Driver Import PE AE, I have v70, think it's the latest.
Any solution ? Or am I doing something wrong ?
btw : I also use PE Network & DP Mass storage.

i'm using w7 64 to create the PE, think that's the reason ?

both of above works for me on pe 1.x , (2003 sp2) , and Amalux is right , Dipe AE has nothing to do with this.
as i use it . and can use both of above tools to hide/ etc my partitions.

1) started afresh. wb 080 minimal + penetwork + dipe ae + removable devices + sata.
2) built livexp on w7 64. same prob.
3) built livexp on xp ( i multi boot 7 & xp, each on a separate pri partition ). same prob.
PG cannot dismount the partition. even if forced.
anyway, i normally do not use livexp to access the net. i'll won't use dipe ae.

after importing lan driver from a DP LAN 7z, i noticed a message ( on the 'finished' pop up ) "2 new partitions found". I have two hidden pri partitions.

why would dipe even check for hidden partitions ? i'm referring to the non ae ver.
i just tried PG on a PE with dipe ae. From PG i ran 'test for partition table errors'. it said the two hidden partitions have a filesystem ID of 1B & 17 but should be 0B & 07.
normally the hidden partitions have filesystem IDs of 1B & 17. if i run the PG 'test for partition table errors' from regular windows, PG does not point out any error.
it looks like dipe & dipe ae are doing something to partitions.
i know this is asking for too much : could you please hide a pri partition and then run a PE (which has dipe ae) and try to unhide the partition using PG ?

built a pe with dipe ae but unchecked 'autorun pe at startup' and 'runonce auto start'.
1) with two hidden partitions :
booted pe. before anything else ran PG - no probs, i could unhide the partitions.
2) with two hidden partitions :
booted pe. ran driver import and selected a DP LAN 7z.
see the message about two new partitions found ?
installed the driver.
ran PG - same prob about busy partitions.

the reason for unhide partitions:
install drivers for the hdd, it is necessary to mount the partitions. the old Driver Import PE version mounted at all driverinstalls.
In the current version it's fixed.
too busy issue:
disable the floppy in bios settings.
with other tools can hide the partitions again.
