Hello Friends;

I have found a iso build that uses, I believe win2k3 boot file and xp boot file, and it uses ezb, Bartpe, syslinux, PE-Commander,, RamDisksys......RamDrive.sys

Its compressed iso 27MB with tiny minixp. I have uploaded that on media fire.

Please reveal the mistery behind it. Mr. shiri Zaban writes the tutorial if this gets him interested.

Thanks.

--- EDITED ---

WinPE.IS_ is a compressed file. Compressed by Microsoft Cabinet Tool. (cabarc or makecab, I don't know)

Try extract from the ISO the file WinPE.IS_

Type on CMD
expand WinPE.IS_ WinPE.ISOYou now have WinPE.ISO [Size: 40,6 MB (42.651.648 bytes)].

Open it or uncompress...

File Contents:
Spoiler

How does the boot?, still don't know. But the files listed, give us an idea that was what was included in creating of this build with BartPE Builder.

Sure, do you have the permission from MS to re-distribute their non-redistributable files?

If yes :dubbio:, then it's OK.

If you have it NOT it it is WAREZ (in the sense of non-authorized redistribution of non-redistributable software).

Hello Wonko;
I'm not trying to redistribute the software. I'm trying to learn about that kind of build. Its free trial demo version build by many companies
and all of them use the same concept. I extract the iso file and learned that, win2k3 boot files are used to build first boot, then winxp boot file are used to build the second boot which contains the files, I believe EZB is used to build the first boot process, BartPe is used to build the project, PE Commander is used to edit or as command interpreter. Its a compressed 27MB iso based on RAMDisk. Just wanna to have idea and learn to build that kind of tiny build with free utilities. It boots fast , loads fast, and work all win ver and machine, they were very care ful windows HAL, Anyways if some can explore and navigate to that build and write a little tutorial, so we all can learn new things.
Mr. wonko again its not about redistributing, its about learning.

Thanks.

What is the statement of the "mystery," if you please? You imply that there is a mystery, but I don't understand what detail(s), in particular, is(/are) mysterious.

The mystery is how to make your own project using the same mode to load and boot a compressed image.

Hello Wonko;
I'm not trying to redistribute the software.

Well, then you failed :w00t:, I assure you that posting on a public board a link to download a file is called in English "to redistribute".

I'm trying to learn about that kind of build. Its free trial demo version build by many companies and all of them use the same concept.

READ the thread I linked to, then:
http://www.911cd.net...showtopic=19737

There is NOTHING different from any other RAMDISK based build, only the .iso is compressed to .is_ and will need more RAM.

NO MISTERY of ANY kind.

You may also find useful interesting this:
http://reboot.pro/4882/

Mr. wonko again its not about redistributing, its about learning.

I am not at all discussing the scope :), I am telling you that the method is NOT "kosher" :ph34r:.
Please do check the "But ... then, why?" in my signature.

:cheers:

Even using BartPE, and creating a PRE-BUILT bootable image is WAREZ! Yes, a company may do this if it has permission from Microsoft, and as we moved from XP to Vista/7, MS made it easier for legit companies to do this...But, that doesn't give you the rights to further re-distribute.

Not really, as long as you do not (or until you do) redistribute it. :)

Sorry to be picky, but as is the quoted sentence may lead to wrong interpretation.

Of course you cannot "create" a "PRE-BUILT" image! :whistling: (otherwise it wouldn't be "PRE-BUILT").

You can build (or "create") a PE image with BartPE or any other builder, as long as you have a license for the source OS.

Once it will be built it will become a PRE-BUILT image ;).

You cannot "share" (or "re-distribute") it, just like you cannot "share" or "redistribute" any software for which redistribution is not allowed by the Author, no matter if the software is Commercial or Freeware.

As an example:
http://firesage.com/...d.php#ui-tabs-3
click on "CLI Freeware"

this software is absolutely Freeware BUT it is NOT re-distributable.

This software:
http://msdn.microsof...7(v=vs.85).aspx

http://reboot.pro/11212/
even if it comes from MS, is redistributable freely.

Sure :), I already heard this one, it must be #3 after "my dog ate my homework, really" and "the devil made me do it, officer" ;).

Just for the fun of it (I have this "personal" thing with the otherwise very nice :thumbup: firesage guys), compare :
http://www.911cd.net...showtopic=23832

3. MBRWizard Command Line may only be distributed electronically from the official host: http://firesage.com. Distribution through other sites or in any other form without specific permission is strictly prohibited.

4. Redistribution of MBRWizard Command Line is not permitted.

As I read it they managed to create a nice loop-hole, by self-denying "forever" in point #4 the possibility stated in point #3 to specifically allow re-distribution. :w00t: :dubbio:

OT :ph34r: but not much ;), and just for the fun of it :):
