I've made my own basic WinBuilder/Win7PE SE tutorial as prep work for my talk next month:

Well, it is "copyrighted" or else I would have posted MY PDFof this excellent tutorial...All you have to do is have one of the many free print to PDF drvers installed, and then at the bottom, where it has the print friendly link, print it to a PDF!...

Have you noticed that it links to the old version 077 ?

No. That's the first version 80 release level version ( internal version number 77.101.0.0 ). There was a second version 80 release level version released shortly after to fix a bug ( this time with a more sensible internal version number of 80.0.0.3 )

Not sure what's holding up the release of the official version 82 release. Its over a month since the last test version.

Thanks all. If there is a public link to a newer version I'd be glad to link to it,but 80 was the newest I saw that did not require a password to extract.

If this is the official link to the WB, then why uses an internal number?

77.x.x but in fact 80.x.x? Which number it corresponds in real.
It seems that the internal numbers just confuse the user.

hi all. first, thanks for making the tutorial irongeek, it is clear and very nice.

I read it after having done the build, only to realize that i did so without using Windows 7 (WAIK). I dont know if that's ok and would really appreciate input, because i am really new to this.

I want to add that in building I used my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and i did in fact run into an issue that crashed win7PE_SE before it was done, with the error notification below:

Wimgapi (v6.1) was not found/

Check Wimgapi6.1.dll, mandatory for win7 SP1 or for the option 'Always use WIMMount Driver (very slow)' is selected!!!

Exiting...


so what i did was, in Retrieve Tools, under Search for Wim tools in the following locations, i checked the box for "our Local SystemDir (ex. C:Windows\System32\"
and checked "our build source (Install.wim)"

I think it workd ok because after having done the build, it opened in QEMU.

So, I then burnd it to a cd using imgBurn.

I'd appreciate any feedback.
