It is now possible to access exFAT partitions with grub4dos-0.4.5b-2011-06-06.
Booting from exFAT directly may be possible, but we need to write boot code for exFAT. Indirect boot (i.e. booting grub.exe/grldr from another grub.exe/grldr in other filesystem) is tested.

But that won't work for any NT based system right?

Anyway a GREAT accomplishment!

Sorry I can't actually get what you mean.But that won't work for any NT based system right?
exFAT is supported in XP/2003(with KB955704 installed) and Vista/7/8/2008/2008r2.

Yes, but once booted.Sorry I can't actually get what you mean.

I mean, definitely NTLDR cannot access/read it.
Vista 's BOOTMGR also should not be able to.
And I don't think that 7's BOOTMGR can.
I hope that I have cleared what I mean:
MBR->PBR->NTLDR->known filesystem->all the rest of NT booting
vs:
MBR->PBR->NTLDR->UNknown filesystem->A suffusion of yellow
