Just a quick question. Can anyone tell me which folder of the main build (win7PE SE) I would put these in. I unzipped to the Projects\Win7PE_SE\Apps folder but didn't show up in my build?

Thanks in advance.

Look to the level inside scripts. For example 2-ObjectDock.script level=2 for Shell, 3 for Components, .... , 5 for Apps.

And when NEW release comes out, watch for a neat way to link them into win7PE_SE from your own folder ( :cheers: ) that way, you can more easily keep them separate, but "included" into the build using the "link" feature of WB.

Thanks for the timely response guys. Looks like I may need the simpler method from "sbaider" for I cannot find the "level" inside the script on Object Docks (don't really know where to look). I was trying the 1st one or VBox one. I now see it to be of the portable variety and tried to put it in the C:\Win7PE_SE_2011_02_10\Projects\Win7PE_SE\Apps\Portable\Pstart folder, with the proper Target and exe names but keep getting an error in the Log that the "RegHiveLoad" etc. failed to load, although the script ran successfully? I have no other errors on this build and before this App addition thing, I managed a successful build.

Thanks anyway, I'll keep trying.

Harry C.

No, No, PStart is to put portable applications, no scripts.
and Yes share script is the best method for the Apps (level 5) with link, but not for other level Posted Image . Put objectdock (level 2) in Folder Shell.

[Main]

Title=2 - ObjectDock

Author=Ludovici

Level=2

...
Level is always at the beginning of script

OK, thanks ChrisR. I get the scripts and they show up now in WinBuilder, but not sure about the apps. I can't tell if they are there or not. Do you just simply unzip to a created share folder and link through the Share Script tab of WinBuilder?

here as example, Creates a folder "MyScript" under "Win7PE_SE\projects" then a folder tree under and place the script inside. with share script choose "MyScript" and "Get link From", you will have a new folder shared_Myscripts in this project with your scripts.

Hi

sorry I am an absolute beginner but willing to learn.

Thank go first to your great contributions! Then, I want to ask you if you can't zip your MyScript folder for us since I do not know what you mean with folder tree...
"here as example, Creates a folder "MyScript" under "Win7PE_SE\projects" then a folder tree under and place the script inside"

Second, where do I put you new sharecript ? I do not want to mix things up but trial and error.

Cheers

Good - it isn't that hard, but it can get a bit confusing since WinBuilder uses many means to organize the material it shows the end user!

WinBuilder has to execute scripts in a certain order, but it also wants to provide a means to organize what is shown to the user. To do this, it uses the names of the files and folders of the Windows OS, and also the Title and Level that are encoded into the .script files.

Let's first talk about "levels"...from the help file...

Levels is a feature from scripts that allow you to choose when your script should run while the project is being built.

You can select values between 1 and 10, when the project starts it will begin with the scripts that have the lower level number and will increase a level after all scripts with the previous levels are processed.

This is a very useful way to ensure that your script always runs at the correct time. First levels are usually used to be build the structure of your project, while the last levels are the ones where your project is finished and an image is created.

By default, we use level 5 as the middle value where most scripts that are only meant to add programs should be processed.

To further categorize and group your scripts you can also create subfolders and in this way ensure that these scripts are separated from others with the same level. Look for examples on the available projects to understand more about these filters.

So Winbuilder will show you all the files in a given project directory tree, and it will sort them so that all the files with the same "level" are together, and order them inside a given level according to the directory names and file names (even if what is shown is the "title").

You COULD just create a new folder (with ANY NAME) inside the project area, and when WinBuilder starts, it will look at all the files/folders, and use them to create a given project "view". BUT, to make it easier to keep YOUR files separate from the original files, but to include them into the project, WinBuilder also supports "link" type files (in addition to the *.script and *.project files). Inside these files are information that allows WinBuilder to find the actual script file, and if it that file should be 'selected". This allows content to be individually controlled (selected) in the different projects, but to share all the actual code in the script file.

Basically, the "share" script just makes it easy to create these "link" files! Since they work inside a single WinBuilder "area", we can put the script anywhere inside the project we are working on. So, for example, if the "top" of the project is "D:\WinBuilder", then we would have all the projects inside "D:\WinBuilder\Projects". This is where you can put your own folder (D:\WinBuilder\Projects\MyScripts).

Unpack the rar file so that it's content is inside the Master Project (i.e. Projects\Win7PE_SE) It is a level 1 script, and will show up in WinBuilder at the top of the list of all the scripts. Inside "D:\WinBuilder\Projects\MyScripts", create an "APPS" folder, since that is what the "share" script is going to look for. BELOW THAT, you can put scripts OR additional folders to organize the scripts.

When you run the share script to create the links, it will create a new folder inside Projects\Win7PE_SE where it will create folders and/or ".link" files as needed to link the project over to the scripts inside D:\WinBuilder\Projects\MyScripts\apps and refresh the interface.

Hope this helps!

Scott

Very good collection of scripts.

I would suggest that you placed this page on your signature space so that more people can find it in the future. I will also refer this page over the next newsletter.

Thank you for sharing.

Hello All!

I have a problem (well everybody has some... ) with using portable applications. I am using Win7_SE.
Google chrome is saying that the source where it is, is read-only.
Portable R-DriveImage says Unable to open... Fatall application error....
Same is with R-Studio and AIDA64 portable.

As far I can see, they are builded with VMWARE ThinApp...

I`ve been using Portable Apps in PE! script and on the virtual PE, there are not any shortcuts...

Any help regarding this?

Thanx.

Do you mean that you are looking for a script to integrate it into WinBuilder? If so, look here If it is some other question, try to be more complete/specific
