I want to have two OS, one on hard drive and one on USB drive.
Attempted to put linux on usb using pendrivelinux, and it worked, but only
on Linux. Is it possible to make it work on Windows as well or, if not, is there an easy way to put either xp or windows on an usb and
make it work in Linux?

Help would be appreciated

QEmu is nice virtual machine software. It is available for Windows and it is available for Linux. You can tell the VM to use the USB disk as its "HDD."

But is there any way to manage it without going through the other OS?
or maybe some micro OS whose only purpose would be to allow you to enter into both?

...it worked, but only on Linux.

What do you mean "but only on Linux"? If you're booting Linux, obviously that's Linux.

Is it possible to make it work on Windows as well

Make what "work"?

or, if not, is there an easy way to put either xp or windows on an usb and
make it work in Linux?

Here you say "make it work in Linux" and then down below, you say "without going through other OS". What are you trying to do?

But is there any way to manage it

What do you mean by "manage it"?

without going through the other OS?

What do you mean by this?

or maybe some micro OS whose only purpose would be to allow you to enter into both?

Are you interested in Xen?
