The regular approach to create a customised installation DVD is to have a (virtualized) computer having two partitions. First a Windows 7 system is installed in the first partition and a WAIK, this system will be used as a working system. Then a second installation will be done in the second partition as a base for customisation and additional software. This system will be used for sysprepping. Then the first system will be used to start imagex and oscdimg.

Would it be possible to forget about the first installation and use only one partition and system to create the customised installation? Then Win7PE_SE, extended with WAIK tools, could be booted to create the installation DVD. The only difference that comes into my mind will be that the prepared customised installation will already contain boot manager and BCD store in the one partition approach. Would this disturb the build process? If not one could reduce the time required to make a customised installation DVD.
