I have Windows XP/SP3 (32-bit) on my laptop's first partition, a small XP/SP2 (64-bit) on the second, plus various bootable vhd, iso and img files here and there. Is there any drawback to using nt60 boot code (with boot directory and bootmgr copied from Windows 7 Ultimate) instead of the standard Windows XP nt52? The benefits are that I can boot VHD directly from bootmgr and with EasyBCD, which is free, I can easily add a grub menu too and boot entries to iso files.

For anyone considering this switch on XP, here's one way to do it (make a backup before you try): Copy boot directory and bootmgr from a working Windows 7 (I used 32-bit Ultimate), download and run BOOTICE to update the current nt52 boot code to nt60, download and install EasyBCD, use EasyBCD to reset the BCD configuration (clear all entries), then use it to add an entry for Windows XP (I unchecked the automatic box) and to any OS, ISO or VHD you want.
