Hi friends,

I have update my script for the integration of SRD from Norton Ghost 15 into Win7PE.
You needs a licensekey from Norton Ghost 15.
With the Norton Ghost from Service Recovery Disk you can easy backup and recover your PC with the v2i-format.

Now I have redesigned the script also for use with x64 source

The script you can download from downloadcenter:

reboot.pro->downloads->winbuilder->appscripts->NortonGhost 15 SRD

Hi,

I would like the shows my script for the integration of SRD from Norton Ghost 15 into Win7PE.
You needs a licensekey from Norton Ghost 15.
With the Norton Ghost from Service Recovery Disk you can easy backup and recover your PC with the v2i-format.

Here you can download the script:

[attachment=11824:NortonGhost 15 SRD.7z]

and here the required folder with programfiles (Its modified from original).

NortonGhost 15 SRD-ProgramFolder

Select the extracted folder 'NortonGhost15_SRD' in script and put the licensekey into the textbox. Then select the same language as you source. Thats all.

I have test it with Win7PE_SE, engl. and german source x86.

Now you can test it.

Hi,

I tried to use the script with Win7PE-SE from February 2011 and with the pcwWin7PE_R2_2.2 Projekt.
Within the Win7PE-SE Project everything works fine, as long as the Host's drive letter uses Y: for the booting CD-drive with the Win7PE-SE disk. When i start Ghost from the Project-CD, it seems to look for all fixed drive letters on the Host-installation and reassigns all drive letters in the Win7PE-SE environment according to the host-installation. If the host's drive letter for the booting Cd-drive was fixed with any other drive letter than Y:, all programs will not start anymore, if they expect to have the project - CD in drive Y: - Ghost 15 included.

I had no success in using the Script with pcwWin7PE_R2.2: When starting Ghost from the disk a SreShell.exe-Window gave the folling text:

Fehler in Anwendung Die Anweisung in 0x0043152c verweist auf Speicher 0x025c0e6c. Der Vorgang konnte nicht im Speicher durchgeführt werden.

In a second call the Symantec Recovery Disk - Window gave the following message:

Fehler ECA31A9: Failed to find any files in directory X:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Temp that match the pattern extension.*.xlm

Indeed: this directory doesn't exsist, instead an emty directory named ..\tem
Could there be any typing-error in the script or somewhere else, leading to this error?

Any ideas to fix the problem?

Regards

M.G.

Hi Max Gilb,

I don't know the project pcwWin7RE. I do not know how relevant it is, if there is uptodate. I can't give support for this project.

For Win7pe-se it should work. I have test it also with no fixed driveletters for CD-ROM. Do you use in additional to script the programfolder from Downloadlocation? I have modify it for running with this script.

Hi,

pcwWin7PE_R2.2 is the Win7PE - Project with a few modifications by PC-Welt. I will try it again with the unmodified project on next weekend.

Today I have tested the Win7Pe_SE build again with no fixed CD-Drive letter on the host system and it worked fine. Obviously my problem only occures in Win7Pe_SE, if the host System uses a fixed drive letter different from Y: for the CD-Drive. If the CD-Drive hasn't got any assignment, or the assignment is Y:, everything works fine.

Is there any way to prevent Ghost from reassigning the drive letters according to the hosts adjustments?

By the way, I used your modified program-folder because the script couldn't find any files on my original Ghost-CD.

Thank you for the quick answer above,

with best regards

Max Gilb

Hi Max Gilb,

please try using the following: Set 'Run from Ram' and build the CD. At runtime you can modify the Ghost Programfolder
X:\Program files\norton...
Many xml-files are in the programfolder.
Here you can test with rename the files with Extension.auto... I think the Extension.auto.Driveletters.xml is the problem. Rename it to .disabled and start Ghost. If its a solution, rename it on the source and new test with new build with 'run default'

I'm happy you give me response, then I will correct it on my sorcedir.

Hi and thank you!

With your hints everything works fine now, even with fixed drive letters on the host system. As you suspected, Extension.auto.Driveletters.xml did the reassignment of drive letters to those, which were used in the host system - and that only, if they were fixed there. I doubt, that you need to change your script, because some people may be happy with the reassigning of Win7PE drive letters to the original host letters. As long as the booting CD-ROM ist not involved, everythings works as it should work.
For people like me, who have their cd-drive letters fixed, your hint to disable the Extension.auto.Driveletters.xml by renaming it, will be sufficient.

Hi everyone,

I have upload the version v2 with an added option for 'assign driveletters'.
Now you can enabled or disabled this feature on the gui. The programsource is the same as v1 with enabled reassign driveletters.

Yes I have test with Win7-Enterprise-x86-Source (x64 will not work).
On Root from Volume X must be SymInfo.xml with follow lines:

<SreInfo>
<pcAThinHostVersion>12.1</pcAThinHostVersion>
<StartNetwork>false</StartNetwork>
<StartPCAnywhere>false</StartPCAnywhere>
</SreInfo>

No language-infos are included. It's importend.
Do you down my modified symantec-source?

<SreInfo>
<Languages>
<Default>en</Default>
<Id>en</Id>
</Languages>
<pcAThinHostVersion>12.1</pcAThinHostVersion>
