I found the script for IE8 from Dera an optimized it for Win7PE_SE with my old Settings from VistaPE.

Now you can enable Proxy.
Also I optimized activeX-Components and so service-view from mmc working properly.
No more first-initialization is running

It is only tested with running explorer-shell an x86-Source:

Here you can download and test it:
removed (scroll down)
Place it into folder network.

Thank you for the IE8 script and your improvments :loleverybody: ,

I had tried previously the IE8 script from Dera,,it works well. with also an additional script for Flash Player from Dera also.

I personally prefer Opera, but this may be good thing to have it also, for IE8 fans, in Win7PE_SE (not selected by default).

Maybe the flash sript included directly in IE8 (with files in attachments) is a good thing for IE8.

Attached Files

  • Attached File  flash.7z   2.48MB   63 downloads

Now I include Flash into IE8-Script as optional component.
But Flush-Animations not running flickerfree. I think its a problem from Standard-VGA.
I'm not shure and have no solution.

In Addition I have added cryptography-provider. Now you can install activex-components at runtime.
Place IE8-Script in Networkfolder

Download:

IE8v4

Thank you  ,

From your work and from existing scripts, Lancelot has shared with me 4 scripts for Internet Explorer (IE Internet Explorer, IE_Favorites_url, IE_Flash_IE, IE_Proxy_Settings)

In brief:
To facilitate maintenance and sharing of scripts between PE 1 2 3, He prefers split scripts, rather than a big script
I can understand that, even if I find it worse for the end user.

He prefers also to keep IE in Addons folder because it is a windows component for a specific project (on this case w7pese) and apps section is to share applications between all projects

Look at your messages, Please, what do you think of this.

Regards

I can understand that, even if I find it worse for the end user.

Seems we should be able to compromise...Not sure if we (i.e. the WIN7PESE project) need to really worry about PE1 (XP based)...I think that would make it cleaner to maintain than splitting out proxy and other things. Seems for that, a good GUI to configure things would be enough (and the flash should be able to be updated easily by the user as a download, etc.)

He prefers also to keep IE in Addons folder because it is a windows component for a specific project (on this case w7pese) and apps section is to share applications between all projects

On this, I don't think it makes a lot of difference, but seems that you could make the same argument for Opera as well...Why not just have a "browsers" folder and then where you put it is really more a matter of taste...Unless there is something that depends on the processing orders (like install browser first, then flash)...Should probably also include "firefox" and/or Chrome...But then where do you draw the line between "apps" and Addons...

Anyway, my $0.02...

Hi all,
thanks for the job :w00t:

I have a problem with the script ie8 on the ChrisR project (win7Pe_SE):

- when I run the building as a source WIN7x86 ent EN, when I run IE in my WinPE, I have only small arrow on top right, not active, instead of security options ..
- when I run the building as a source WIN7x64 ent EN, everything is OK.

I test the script above "ie8v4", and that is ok no matter the source, but many dimmed in the menus "security ..."

When I "mix" the 2 scripts: I activate the 2 scripts (included in WIN7PE_SE and ie8v4 ) everything is OK (favorites, proxy ...).

Another thing with the script included in the draft, I have a change of space of my icons on the desktop (x86 or x64 source, standard or full copy file), which does not happen with the script ie8v4.

And one last thing, is there a draft script for IE9?

Sorry for the wording I used google translator ...

And thanks again .

Hi karnox,
your first problem I can reproduce with Win7-ent-Source EN. I will see I can fix it. Your second problem I don't understand.

IE9 has the problem, it is not include in Win7-Source. The files are needs ca 200MB
 It's very big.

best regards 2aCD

Hi 2aCD,

thanks for your reply.

For my second problem, if I do not activate the IE8 script included in the project, when I boot my WinPE, the gap between desktop icons is small.
And if I activate the script, the gap is wider.
This may be due to my source ?!

Hi Friends,

i have completely redesigned the IE8 script. Per default is now the x86-Browser selected also for x64-Source. This give us more compatibility.
You can also optional select the x64-Browser. Has been used so far.

Here is the new Version v10:

Hi,
Despite the new version unfortunately still it is true that creating Favorites url shortcuts does not work.
Using the Favorites menu option Add to Favorites the links are created malformed.
A workaround is to drag the Addresses Bar links icons to the Favorites Bar instead of using the Favorites menu.

Best regards,

I use a Win7 x86 Ultimate

It is a bug of IE since Vista and IE7
There are several fixes in Google but no one works in this case.
I tested Wimb make_pe3 and it has the same problem,
No problem at all in hard disk win7 32 Ultimate installation

Thanks

In spite the title says "for win7pe(_se)": I tested in multiPE.
in Vista track it runs well with two issues
  • wpeint cannot find scrrun.dll. In Vista PE (w/o IE8 that message does not appear). So wpeinit needs sometheing from IE8 which is not delivered ...
  • On desktop there is an IE8 icon AND an IE8 shortcut.
    Shortcut opens a working IE8
icon brings the error (translated from German) "Application not found". The IE8 icon should be supressed
    (SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerHideDesktopIcons) ?
In win7 track nothing usable appears on the desktop, only one shortcut, which does not start ie8.
Here seems something win7pe_se proprietary assumed which is not defined in other PE3 projects.

Looks like the project has to be adjusted a bit to be "self supporting". Then it can become a "good" app script usable for most projects.

Peter

BTW: The XP track is also possible. For that the Vista / Win7 specific variables with install / boot have to be adjusted to %source_sys% etc.

Hi 2aCD

first of all
Thanks for the new IE8 script!

0scar is right

there is no problem with the 'IE_Favorites_url.script'
but there is problem in the booted PE in the running IE8

e.g. when you visit a site using IE8,
then you want to add this current site's address to the Favorites
via the 'Add a Favorite' button
then IE8 seemingly creates a new favorite item,
but this newly created .url file is not a working one

(myself never was able to solve this problem in my ie8 scripts)

dera

If i understood the decription of the problem correctly, i would say that it is a registry problem.

Appearantly the favorite can be created, so that functionality seems ok. But somehow the url is not relayed.
Can't believe, that M$ created a own dll for just that. ;)

The most frequently solution found on Google is:

regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

but it does not work.

You could go and try to register all dll in system32.

for %a in (*.dll,*.ocx) do regsvr32 /s %a

edit: You might need to run this command up to 3 times, before really all files have been properly registered.
