Hello!

First i have to say, that i use Win7PE_SE and its a really great tool!

But now I have problem:
I boot the win7pe_se and start "System Recovery" (X:\sources\recovery\RecEnv.exe).
The program search now a Windows 7 Installation and after searching an error appears.
Window Title: Re-Image Your Computer
Text: An internal error occurred. The following information might help you resolve the error: 0:80004002
If the error appears, i can click to "Ok" and the "System Recovery Options" Window (Startup Repair, System Restore, System Image Recovery,Win Memory Diagnostics, Command Prompt) appears.
In this window is the option "System Image Recovery". If i choose this option, the error appears again!
So "System Image Recovery" cant be used! I need this option!!!! :-(

I hope someone can help me!

Best regards
Bueno

Think you have choosed ”Restore your Computer…..”
instead of “Use Recovery tools…..” in the “System Recovery Options”
Look at the attached pic...

Hello!

Yes, i choosed "Restore your Computer ...", because i have an vhd image (Windows Image Backup) and i want to restore the image!
The first option is only to repair a system.
In WinBuilder, under "Build" --> "Copy Files" i checked "Some recovery tools ..."
In all previous version from winpe_se, it's alwasys the same error!

I have a screenshot, but i dont know, where i can upload the picture?!?

I can confirm that there seem to be issues with the system image restore. I'll see what I can do.

yes that is what he has chosen because that is what he wants to do. Use Recovery tools… >> System Image Restore does the same thing as choosing restore your computer... in your posted screenshot.

looks like some services are missing from the standard build.
Change file copy mode to full under 1-Copy Files and it should work for you.

So, probably should add to the script a check to see if they select the "Some Recovery Tools" to flip it to "full" or issue error?

I'll take a look at that...

THANKS for the debug! :happy_dance:

With "full" it works better, but not perfect!
If i want to use a network share (in RecEnv.exe) in "full" mode to restore a image, a new error appears :happy_dance:
I think the best solution is, to find out which files and services are needed.

Bueno thank you for pointing out this error.:happy_dance:

This is an old existing option in the project, and without using it I thought it worked properly :rofl: .

I agree, the best solution is to find the files or services required for Recenv and StartRep.
For now, waiting to find all dependencies, the solution proposed by Homes32 (Change file copy mode from standard to full under 1-Copy Files) seems the most appropriate, thanks.

@Bueno
Is your network share works well outside Recenv ?
:rofl:

Yes I also confirm this error but I never reported it :rofl: When Windows Update stuffed up my Windows 7 installation last time, I used System Restore instead. It would be useful to fix this error even though I don't use the option, it may come on handy as pointed above. I normally use Hard Disk Manager for imaging.

Edit: I just selected "Full" instead of standard in "Copy Files", I will see if this fixes anything.

@ChrisR
Yes, my network share works outside RecEnv very well! :-)
I have compared the boot.wim with full and standard copy method.
When i copy the system32 folder from "Full" boot.wim to "standard" boot.wim, it will work, but network share dont work in recenv!
I hope i find out the files, which are needed!

If i start bmrui.exe directly for system image recovery, the same error appears!

@Skyide
If you need a new harddisk or your win7 is to much damaged, system restore can't help! :rofl:

Now it works! :rofl:
The first problem is solved!

Two DLL files from system32 are missing:
blb_ps.dll and
blbres.dll

If you copy the two files into system32, the error (Window Title: Re-Image Your Computer
Text: An internal error occurred. The following information might help you resolve the error: 0:80004002) doesn't appear and the restore works great!

Now i have "only" the error in RecEnv(Bmrui.exe) to use network shares.
Following Error: Title: Re-image Your Computer, Text: An internal error occurred. The following information might help you resolve the error: 0:80070422

Thank you very much, to solve the first issue :rofl: .

I solved the second issue!

Cause for the second issue is the windows firewall service.
If the service startup type is set to automatic, recenv share will work :cheers:

This reg key is needed to set startup type to automatic:
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Services\MpsSvc
--> Reg_DWORD "START", Value data: 2

Why is windows firewall service in win7pe_se disabled?

Very well, you've solved both problems :cheers: .

The firewall is disabled in the script "2 - Shell & Config" with comment
////disable firewall 09.12.2007

RegWrite,"HKLM",0x4,"Tmp_setupreg_hiv\ControlSet001\Services\MpsSvc","Start","3",NoWarn
Enable the firewall automatically can cause, may be, other problems, I don't know ! there are many many post on the subject.

the question remains :

Why is windows firewall service in win7pe_se disabled by default ?

Here is the script "1 - Copy files" with blb_ps.dll and blbres.dll (+mui) for the first issue

@ChrisR
i think too, that the firewall can cause some other problems.
Because in the registry are some active rules.
Look here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules

But you can disable the firewall with following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\EnableFirewall=0
-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\DomainProfile\EnableFirewall=0
-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\PublicProfile\EnableFirewall=0
-

I don't think, that it cause some problems with these registry keys!

Thank you for this information, :cheers:

I look to add these two keys in scripts "2 - Shell & Config"

I don't think, that it cause some problems with these registry keys!

I hope also.

I had no problem with WRC when using this microminimalistic “old” slightly modded package:
http://al-jo.zxq.net/wbw7rescue.7z
You should try it!
Just unpack, point to your source and build.
:)
Ps. I didn’t go all the way to restore because my system works fine.
And also, I’m normally using Macrium Reflect to backup/restore…

The URL does not work anymore. Can you share a new download URL ? Thanks in advance...
