  • It would be nice if the flag boxes can be set to normally hidden/collapse and only show when readers point or click somewhere in author name bar. Or merge buttons +/-flag into author name bar.
  • A new Reboot favicon would be nice.
  • I prefer a less bright "white" background similar to white paper in a room as oppose to white paper in direct sunlight.

who wants to see my taste - go on :

http://burningamp.net/

http://www.burningamp.net/index

or

http://www.diyaudio.rs/

Honestly say....These are my colors

and my interests :heh:

Talking/criticizing is very easy - easiest to me to say - nothing and no one I do not like here (maybe so) :heh:

Who wants completely your own ideas - it must make its own site :heh:

Or to help Nuno to make better site - not to talk - to work.

Everyone is different.

Sorry, we'll keep them visible for simplicity sake.

If you notice, the previous flags were animated on boot land and here we took care to ensure they were static and disturb less the attention from the text. Yet, this is something I consider relevant to include.

A new Reboot favicon would be nice.

Mikorist has prepared one, should be online soon.

Ok, I understand what you mean.

We currently use the hex code #FFFFFF for pure white, can you (or others) suggest a color code that we should try instead?

Thanks.

Not all flags have the same proportional sizes:
  • 20px/30px ==> 'right' proportion
  • 18px/30px ==> out of proportion, but still doable
  • 15px/30px ==> out of proportion and ugly
  • 16px/30px ==> out of proportion and ugly
  • 20px/17px ==> out of proportion and ugly
  • probably a lot of other combinations
The flag should be on the same line as the name of the country.

You can make one image file which contains all flags (flags.gif) and use sprites to "extract" them (not sure if it is supported by all browsers:

CSS Spriting is a technique used to limit the number of HTTP requests generated by a web page. This is done by combining multiple images into one image and using the CSS background-position property.

Can we come back to technical issues, and put the offtopic jokes into ???
Or is this thread just thought to amuse all members?

You are probably missing the non-verbal (or verbosely out of topic) new method on communication. ;)

You are seemingly, just like myself, a dinosaur in a fast changing world , talking seriously and on-topic appears like being so "old school". :whistling:

Maybe we could ask for a small subforum where people stay on topic. :w00t:

Something like:
Groups-> Needles in haystacks ->On-topic discussions ONLY

Simplicity is also a good thing.
The text box here has concavity that I am not used to. But it does not matter much since the concavity is on the right side, so it does not affect indentation, bullets and numbering.

We currently use the hex code #FFFFFF for pure white, can you (or others) suggest a color code that we should try instead?

How about #FBFBFB ? ██

the new background color is defiantly easier on the eyes. thanks.

the underline hover effect on the top links for Forum, Tutorials, Downloads looks a bit out of place. a block hover effect like on the Messages, tools/settings, and logout (located in the upper right corner) would look cool.

Still there's no list of forum/subforum.

Also Recent comments section shows only 10 topics which is too small for a very busy forum like this. May be we can have like 25 Recent comments topics like in previous site.

Recent topics section seems useless.it would be better if it is removed.

Thanks anyway.I like the aesthetics of this new site and it is very slick to operate.

Still there's no list of forum/subforum.

You can click on the forums tab on the header links to see them. No need to keep everything on the same page as before and it also eases our CPU/RAM/bandwidth.

Also Recent comments section shows only 10 topics which is too small for a very busy forum like this. May be we can have like 25 Recent comments topics like in previous site.

We tried that but it didn't worked and I'll explain why:

The new forum software provides an API for using AJAX. The developer of that modification used that API on his new version and it is slow as heck when fetching 25 topics, even with 5 it already starts to take time.

Mikorist did a lot of good changes last night to improve overall speed. This also improved the response time of the modification and allowed to show 10 topics with almost no lag. One idea is coding our own implementation but neither of us has enough time for the moment.

Recent topics section seems useless.it would be better if it is removed.

Since we can't show 25 topics, we added this option so that people can see only the new topics instead of new comments.

There is a subtle but important difference between them. Look on the update time for each. Comments are posted very fast and the oldest one is from about 3 hours ago. While the oldest topic displayed on the second list is of 13 hours ago.

The advantage is that you can open a question or present a tutorial and it will be readable on the front page for about 13 hours. If it wasn't for this section, your question would a have 3 hours to be answered or else move away from public sight if none replied.

So, we improved the odds for people to ask questions or present their work with some minimum guarantee that they will be visible on the frontpage for more than 3 hours.

Sorry for the long writing, hope the rationale for keeping the two lists makes more sense now.

Thank you for all the feedback!

:)

Personally I liked the old name and design better. I guess I went beyond the age where one can adopt oneself easily to new stuff. Long links have never been a trouble for me.

What I miss in the new forum is the date/time when a post has been published. I only see 'Posted two days ago' or 'Posted A day ago' or 'Posted 21 hours ago'.

Many Greetings
MichaelZ

Comments have auto refresh system which going on my nerves,

but with that option you can see any change from 1 - 30 sec.

now is 30 sec on auto refreshing - because uses less ram
and it is faster :)
