it's also my question/request to let everyone know about the possible/available designations & required criteria publicly.

If you count, 1 criteria is you "need" such promotion, like in ChrisR case he needs the ability to get more priviledges to organise Win7PE SE topics.
Generally time naturally shows (at least to me), this is not about number of posts etc.
I asked Nuno many times to get ChrisR promotion even before ChrisR get 100 posts  (100 post limit to edit posts), So far I have not mistaken with people on that.

Why so big deal  , You do not need promotion to share things with public, Normally users who share their findings and get around for a while, easly open topics and edit post 1 for updates, besides ChrisR never asked such thing, and practically such promotion will only ease his maintance of Win7PE SE through topics (by giving ability to post updates to closed locked topics, or move posts to create new topics...), his sallary of this maintance will also increase 2 times, but result is same ( 0 x 2 = 0)

Anyway, better one open a new topic, share your ideal criteria list, discuss etc.... Maybe a set of "rules" can be agreed in the end of such topic, maybe not. that is better than messing up current one more, Good luck.

Please behave. You are not in the right of accusing other people in such manner.

And if you do such thing in a public location, I would appreciate facts to be presented such as links and quotes rather than a vague statement such as "many times".

Do remember that neither of us is a native English speaker. Also, I do not hold telepathic abilities that enable me to read your mind nor hold infinite memory storage. On top of all that, I am human and often make mistakes, reason why we do appreciate some tolerance before accusing others around here.

I don't recall reading your "many" requests except for some days ago and I don't like the tone you're applying on your previous message. If you are following Galapo's policy of promoting mistrust and conflicts between members, do be honest about your intentions or you will be grounded.

Don't turn this happy event onto a long discussion, do start a new topic to defend your claims. You have been warned.

Thank you.

Hi Nuno,

please behave and do not bring your personal issues to such nice good congradulation / promotion topic !.

What I mean above obviously is:
ChrisR already qualified to have some forum promotion to me, regardless how many posts he have on overall forum,
hence this means post number is not a criteria to me, and since such promotion given today (current ChrisR post number is 152), this also proves post # not a criteria to you too, and request already made to you by me through e-mail 2 or 3 times (maybe more) even before post # 100, more underlying even 100 post is not a criteria too (at least to me) . IF you can remember, request made to help ChrisR to handle Win7PE SE topic by his own about 2 or 3 packages before. Since you are forum owner, you decide to wait (but not commented, this is what I understand from your not commenting on requests),
and Untill today (since promotion given today), I personally helped ChrisR on such tasks by fully syncronising with him, and recently re-requested due to changes made following your concerns.

There is no accusation, no link, no vague statement , no mistrust mentioned, or no conflicts......

Try to be honest Nuno, I will be pleased if you can stop "campaign" you start recently, commenting on both mine and Galapo's posts by misinterpereting, due to you personal problems. Remember Forum Rules 12 , which is pretty meaningless for forum owner, but maybe helps.

12. SMILE! Life is tough, we all know that, when you enter this board, it will be appreciated that you leave your personal problems behind, asking and replyinq questions or however exchanging informations with a "positive" attitude, TAKE IT EASY  and enjoy your stay here.

out of that, if you have such problems to share, feel free to e-mail Galapo or me, or if you want to create a public discussion, feel free to open a topic.

@ChrisR
sorry for that hapening here  , I was not expecting this coming too. Life goes, smile my friend, enjoy your promotion and your success with Win7PE SE.

That's nice to be able to submit various suggestions, requests and opinions, but in "democracy kingdom" no-one is obligated to comply with such requests, unless stated otherwise in the local law with specific cases listed, and Request Review process set. Hence, why bring such irrelevant argument to ChrisR promo thread? The discussion on "Request Review Process" is better suited in "Amending and Interpreting Forum Rules" thread or section. Also, generally speaking, if a person is nominated by only one individual (as opposed to a number of ppl), the justification to comply with such request is somewhat weak.

AND, we often tend to demand from someone else things we don't deliver ourselves. Like moving this discussion to a suitable thread.

Failing to provide facts to prove your accusations, your account has been suspended for 60 days.

You've been warned about this type of behavior by email, personal messages and public posts since February. Your talent and work contributions are valuable to our community but I will not tolerate further flaming to occur on my watch.

Jaclaz assumed this role in the past and now I finally understand how difficult his position really was.

Take care. I really hope you can rest, work and reflect during this period of time.

Well, I guess it was just a hyperbola of "asking 100 times", but it really doesn't matter how many times one asks something, since if there is a suitable Request Review Process in place, I'm sure one's request will get the attention it deserves (if any).

There may be mitigating circumstances all the way as well. For example, a request to improve forum Citations Feature may seem reasonable for many (not just for one), but there are technical limitations that make it less feasible on a particular forum. So what - should I cry or blame someone?

Another thing to remember - I got it while visiting one small country. I asked what law regulates this and that after getting a ticket - and was explained, its really is a small country, they don't have budget to hire that many lawyers to develop a huge body of law that any country does need regardless of size. "This is not America" - I think they meant Samoa. Hence, its not unusual that some forum decisions are discretionary rather than regulated by rules. But its always a good idea to improve and detail the rules, making the decision process more transparent. Again, there may be other tasks more urgent at hand at the moment.

Hence, unless you feel you're regularly hit for no reason, some tolerance to others opinions or ignorance is always welcome. And I don't recall Nuno mentioning your nick in any thread. Lets say, nobody blocked you from publicly nominating someone, or even setting a Poll to see, if you're right on target. Actually, that would be my way to nominate someone - but again my Poll sample is already sold out, so you need to invent yours.

Anyway, better one open a new topic, share your ideal criteria list, discuss etc.... Maybe a set of "rules" can be agreed in the end of such topic, maybe not. :)

Since you're very active, interesting and competent participant of this forum, and obviously agree with arguments in this thread, just need to cool down, I submit a kind petition to replace your "sentence" at some point with "probation", so you can keep contributing to it. Thanks for your contribution.

Hi Nuno,

I'm wondering what you think of your own public posts where accusations were made but without facts and quotes? To be fair, I guess you should ban yourself for 60 days, or reinstate Lancelot? Please let's have Lancelot back because he's a valuable member of the forum.

http://www.boot-land...?...st&p=115921

If you just intend to keep disrupting things around here to promote your new forum as a better place than our community for "fun, freedom and flexibility" as you like to announce there, then I'd really prefer that you were honest about your intentions here.

Thanks,
Galapo.

Hmmm... Looking at above citations, there was some limited misunderstanding before... :) As they say, the story has legs. Well, the best post I read so far on the topic is this one. Yet IMHO it lacks some insight in US corporate governance.

Closer to this forum, if we look at ALL presented projects as equally having right to exist (since none is funded from public sources), the issue at hand may be magically resolved at once. "Do you like that solution better than the other - then use it, no problemo, you're most welcome!". What is often missing - an independent review that highlights what are main goals, advantages and drawbacks of various similar purpose packages. Magically, public prefs will then show the right direction pretty fast. How can one assess the number of ppl, using one or another soft? Its a lot easier than for cable or sat companies to show advertisers how many ppl watch their ads - and they do.

Lancelot

Forget to mention, Hate message in signature never serves well in promoting products or ideas. Comparison of packages is required, but not necessarily in post signatures. If you prefer this way, why not mention pros of your solution instead - hope you don't hate it? :) I can tell you more: if Philip Morris were to find similar message on his competitor's cigarette packs ("I hate cigarettes PM makes" ;)), he would start a real war, like in those Star movies. This is a big NO-NO in promoting your product or service.

If you are following Galapo's policy of promoting mistrust and conflicts between members, do be honest about your intentions or you will be grounded.

Nuno, you're the one who keeps raising my name when I haven't been doing anything. I've been doing no promotion of mistrust, nor promoting conflict. A few times I've responded when my name was raised to point out inaccuracies (as is again the case here), but that's not promoting mistrust or conflict since it's only responding to things already in existence.

In the case of your statement quoted above, I note simply that you say this is my policy without providing any facts. I have no such policy. You're holding Lancelot to a rule which you yourself don't abide by. Please let's just move beyond this and have Lancelot reinstated. He provides a lot of help to many members, and to ban him for 60 days will mean that a number of projects will be unable to receive his support.

Thanks,
Galapo.

And in fact, people that share the same religious beliefs as yours also share my opinion: http://rebooters.net/

By email you've commented the progress in your PhD and working as assistant minister at the Presbyterian church in town.

By tradition, I do prefer to cross-check references in regards to what is being written while also avoiding any references to religious beliefs due to our multi-cultural environment. Humans err, my sincere apologies for this mistake.

If you just intend to keep disrupting things around here to promote your new forum as a better place than our community for "fun, freedom and flexibility" as you like to announce there, then I'd really prefer that you were honest about your intentions here.

As for this statement, I would seriously like to know your plans for the future so that we can work together.

In the case of your statement quoted above, I note simply that you say this is my policy without providing any facts. I have no such policy.

If you and Lancelot have nothing to hide from public scrutiny just like you often perform to my actions around here, then I'd also wonder why you closed down the forum from public eyes after that particular comment of mine.

It really doesn't feel good to have your actions scrutinized all the time by others, yet, it is even worse when discussions move from constructive/civilized criticism onto a soap opera.

If not asking too much on your future reply, it is a fact that you have kept the forum in secret to the public but yet chosen to invite a few key developers to join.

What was your selection criteria?

How do you tell apart between invited and uninvited developers?

I would like to know your rational for these actions since I've gave you full access to the forum here as administrator, access to our server machine, full control of liveXP, control of the project download list of winbuilder and just about anything at my reach that could improve the work environment.

Suffice to say that I feel disappointed after trusting and sharing all that I had with you over the years to now see myself excluded from your new endeavor without deserving your trust to be invited.

----------------------

You see, around here the only case of uninvited developers in our history has been this one with Lancelot. It will last two months after several warnings were made in the past months. He is not the only person crossing the line too often but once this penalty ends, he is certainly welcome to return with a clean slate.

Yet, you attempt to defend him while:
- criticizing publicly my decision
- keeping your own forums closed from public eyes
- inviting others at your sole discretion to join.

This doesn't make you a role model in terms of forum administration as well.

All that I ask is that you work with our community rather than against it. I know that above all, you are still well intended but these past few months have made us all very bitter.

Perhaps we do need a reboot to start over again as good friends just like before.

I will do it now my friend.

Humans err, my sincere apologies for this mistake.

ok, thanks. Because me and the site you linked to have very little religious faith in common.

If you and Lancelot have nothing to hide from public scrutiny just like you often perform to my actions around here, then I'd also wonder why you closed down the forum from public eyes after that particular comment of mine.

I've already explained that in the topic I linked to before:

I've now just disabled guest access until we've finished getting our new project ready for public release. We've needed somewhere to discuss things in a private forum, rather than advertising on boot-land by discussing development here. But given Nuno's slip-up, I take it it's now advertised.

It really doesn't feel good to have your actions scrutinized all the time by others, yet, it is even worse when discussions move from constructive/civilized criticism onto a soap opera.

Then please, please refrain from dropping my name into your posts all the time. This only has the effect of causing me to respond to inaccurate statements.

If not asking too much on your future reply, it is a fact that you have kept the forum in secret to the public but yet chosen to invite a few key developers to join.

Ok, here's another innacurate statement. I've invited no one apart from Lancelot to join. The forum was for him and I to develop a project out of the public eye for a while. If you have evidence that I've been inviting people to join, then please raise some quotes or links. Otherwise, this is again exactly the type of thing that had Lancelot suspended.

All explained above and at the other topic. We just wanted a place to begin development of a project that took the LiveXP basics and made it better. Nothing has been hidden from you. I personally informed you by email regarding the beginning of the new project and made a subdomain request, which was granted. I fail to see how you were excluded from this new endevour. You were informed about it. The only thing you weren't informed about was the forum, but I don't know why I needed to do that since it was simply for private development. If you wanted to join the project development and contribute, all you needed to do was ask and you would have been informed of the forum. No need to feel excluded as I wasn't inviting anyone else. If you wanted to join the project development, you just needed to make me aware. I did not know you wanted to join in development.

Yet, you attempt to defend him while:
- criticizing publicly my decision

Yes, because I see you doing exactly the same thing to me. Either Lancelot should be reinstated, or you should ban yourself for a similar time. Fair's fair. Just reinstate him and be done with it, please.

- keeping your own forums closed from public eyes

Reasons explained above, and other undefended assertions by you -- like what Lancelot was suspended for -- pointed out.

- inviting others at your sole discretion to join.

This doesn't make you a role model in terms of forum administration as well.

An assertion again made without quotes or links. I've done no such inviting. Lancelot may have invited some people, I think. I've invited nobody other than Lancelot. Again you make negative comments against me like what had Lancelot suspended but you can get away with. I don't know why you have to make out that I've been inviting people and trying to sabotage you. I've done no such thing. I've done no inviting of any boot-land member apart from Lancelot, and that for the simple reason that he is the codeveloper with me. Did you want to become a codeveloper to or contribute new/updated scripts to the project or bug reports? If not, then there was no need for me to inform you of the forum as we wanted to keep things private until such time the project was ready for the public.

All that I ask is that you work with our community rather than against it. I know that above all, you are still well intended but these past few months have made us all very bitter.

I feel I haven't been working against this community but for it. However, I feel you have been against me for some reason, dropping my name here and there causing me to respond. I don't know why this is, but it is tiring. Lancelot has been suspended for the very things you've been doing to me.

Regards,
Galapo.

And while we're at it, how about Peter's very mean assertion here, without links or quotes: http://reboot.pro/in...ndpost&p=115148

You are ingenious to tell people nonsence as reality.

Despite him being expicitly shown that what he said was wrong, he still was unable to withdraw his statement. So again, following your rule on which Lancelot was suspended, either you have another member to ban for 60 days, or be fair and consistent and remove Lancelot's suspension.

Thanks,
Galapo.
