New version beta of SARDU: 2.0.1 Beta 2
Updated

[EDIT]
Errors found and solved in new beta 3
AOSS with USB
New Avira Rescue Disk
N.B. Escan and recovery disks don't works with QEMU (MobaLiveCD) but in my tests works fine in real PC
[/EDIT]

  • Fixed error with thirst boot and direct download
  • Fixed error who autoclose SARDU if shell32.dll is missing (changed icon)
  • Add support to Escan (antivirus)
  • Add support to Fedora Linux
  • change management routine identify USB
  • Add support for burn the iso.* (using CdRecord, cygwin of RedHat )

Now SARDU burn the ISO, erase Media Erasable.
I personally tried to work with multiple burners...and...works fine.
for burn ISO:

Press Button Check Writer. Sardu checks for the presence of recorders and media. After a few seconds the writers are added. The Vendor, Model of burner and speed of media are added in the appropriate combo. You can change Burner from Burner Combo. You can check Media from ISO --> Check Media.

Feedback are necessary

Posted Image

Speed from Speed Combo.Choose your preferred speed.

When the burner is Changed or the Combo Burner is pressed, SARDU recheck the media. This option must be used for know speed of media not present at the first check. If SARDU found a "writed" erasable media inform you. You can erase it from menu Iso --> Erase CD/DVD. After erased the media is ready to use.

For burn ISO.. ISO --> Burn ISO.

In SARDU report, you can see the progress of search, speed and burn.
N.B. READ REPORT

Thanks for the wonderful tool!
I have a small suggestion
Does your tool can detect the creation dates of the .iso files and offer to update them When an update is available ?

Some feedback (but not about ISO burning (as Win 7 has it built in anyway)) .This is the first time I have tried SARDU (mainly because I thought it was only for installing AV s/w).
I downloaded a DSL iso, made a clean FAT32 USB drive and installed it to USB using SARDU.
It worried me that the unticked entries suddenly flashed red (which means DANGER!) - why not just grey or don't change colour?
The main point is that when I booted using Qemu I only got a Menu Tools entry and I cannot find DSL??
If I run Hardware Detection - PCI - I get error message 'the pci.ids file is missing'.
If I run Boot from TestDisk , I get a DATA RECOVERY menu with 3 choices (1 TESTDISK,2 PHOTOREC,3 LILO PWD) and a choice prompt for 01234 - if I choose 4 I get CONFIG.SYS error line 27 and 'A batchfile A:\AUTOEXEC.BAT does not contain the label 'chntpw'.

Download DSL from here
Format USB drive fat32 with RMPrepUSB 2.1.600_REL
Make o copy of SARDU with only DSL
Test USB drive with Notebook and MobaLiveCD (Use QEMU)...
  • DSL works fine
  • Hardware Detection ...i don't know, this is official site, SARDU add the module without any change
  • Data Recovery  My error , Thanks for feedback, solved.

Your DSL ISO download worked fine, I used dsl-4.4.10-syslinux.iso which did not.
Maybe you could warn user if wrong version or make this version work too?

When I first ran Sardu for first time and clicked on the DSL button, nothing happened. I clicked on others and nothing happened with them either, so I went to website and manually downloaded. From your comment I thought maybe there was a direct download somewhere, when I clicked on the DSL button again after running it for 2nd time, this time I got a Win7 Firewall warning and when I said OK it downloaded the iso fine. Strange that it did not work the first time (unless I missed the firewall warning somehow??).

When I click on 'Check Writer' the program closes after it has found the DVD Writer. I am using Windows 7 Professional. Any ideas??

Also when I click on the eScan link a 'Dos Box' appears and nothing happens. Do I need to update my Links file?

Hello Davide,

I see you also fixed the issue with the missing win7pe.cfg file we discussed in the last thread, very nice :) saves me another 2 secs ;)

I tried beta 3 this morning, everything seems good, except for one thing: I added phoronix test suite (pts desktop live 2010.1). It goes to the grub menu but when I choose pts it just flashes and comes back to the menu. Memtest from the same menu boots fine.

Edit: never mind, it was due to a download error. And now that I've re-downloaded I discovered it won't fit on my stick ;)

Another thing, what's the point of having the xp recovery console if you still need the cd?
I mean, it doesn't seem to do anything. You might as well start the console off the cd.
Or am I missing something here?

The problem is of the recognition of hardware. Recovery console returns the same problem even when created by UBCD4Win. If you test it with mobalive cd works fine. The hardware is compatible :)

I have all the iso's in the ISO folder just like 2.0 and I get Green in the build phase, but the log below shows all errors and before I checked the log, i burned the image outside of Sardu and it only captured the menu item, none of the utilities, Antivirus etc....

Has anyone else seen this in the Beta? My build is on a portable drive using Vista Pro x86.
Regards
Droider

I've had this problem before. If you've changed the location of the iso-folder, you have the close the program first.

I'm still having issues with the check writer button. When I click it, the program just closes. I've tried downloading version 2.01 as well as the most recent beta on the site, 2.0.2 beta 7a. Both of them just close when I click the check writer button. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
