First post besides the Hello World post:

I have been working very very hard to get a 16GB drive that would have dang near everything I need. Lots of lurking, Googling and such. Major kudos to bootland peeps, pendrivelinux people, msfn, jaclez and others.

What do you think? Did I miss anything???

Here's the list of everything! I also had Alkid on there, but it's in Russian, so I killed it. I am looking at adding either VasAlex BartPE or one of a couple of flavors of MicroPE that I've come across. But space is getting really really tight.

It's all on a WICKED fast Patriot Exporter XT 16 GB USB drive. Speeds of 200x make booting, installing and working with this a DREAM.

All done with Grub4DOS and using menu.lst entries with a couple of submenus.

Here are the entries:

Boot from Hard Drive - Windows XP (NTLDR)
Boot from Hard Drive - Windows Vista/7 (BOOTMGR)
Offline NT Password & Registry Editor
Memtest86+
Hirens Boot CD 12.0
Ultimate Boot CD
Win7PE
ERD for XP
ERD for Vista x86
ERD for Vista x64
ERD for 7 x86
ERD for 7 x64
Vista 32 Recovery Disk
Vista 64 Recovery Disk
Windows 7 32 Recovery Disk
Windows 7 64 Recovery Disk
Install XP (actually, cleaning out the clunk, something is not quite right.....)
Install Windows 7
Clonezilla
Partition Wizard 5
Parted Magic
AVG Rescue CD
Trinity Rescue Kit
System Rescue CD
OphCrack XP 2.3.1
OphCrack Vista 2.3.1
Knoppix 6.2.1
YlmF (Windows Like OS)
Linux Mint 10
Peppermint Linux
BackTrack 4 Final
EasyPeasy 1.6
Ubuntu 10.10 (GNOME Desktop x86)
Debian Live
Puppy 511
SliTaz 3.0

Would love to hear responses. I'll post the menu.lst and submenus, if you guys want.

Yes, I think the menu.lst can be useful for others that make a subset of yours.

You may want to consider adding Live Hacking CD next to BackTrack? also maybe you consider its better to mix the OphCracks together in one so you save some space? also I don't see the Konboot in your menu? Check All in 1 Mission Impossible USB-2nd updated edition for some ideas.
Also you may consider adding other Anti-Virus to your project, like Bitdefender, and Kaspersky, and Norton.
And yes you need to post the menu list for sure, so the experts here help you with their valuable feedback.
Welcome to Boot-Land Empire

Thanks Jamal. I really used your stuff, too. EXCELLENT tutorials. I'm adding Live Hacking CD, Bitdefender and a few others when the 32 GB Xporter Boost comes in from Amazon. Konboot is in the Hirens CD build. (course, so it memtest, lol) I'll check your all in 1 MI stick for more ideas....

And I made a couple of changes.... Check the next post.

And there are several "tricks" that I used to get some of these up and running. For instance, I had to reformat the drive late in the game and install the "XP install" first, THEN add the rest of it back in. I couldn't see any other way around it. Oh, the drive is FAT32, not NTFS. And I'm not sure which part of the Best Buy MRI 5.5 iso workarounds worked. I did three at one time (I was tired) and one/three of the them worked. One was simply copy the mri.exe to the root. The second was change the wimpeshl.ini file to include a second look at the wimpwshl.exe file (to see the usb key). The third was a change to the bcd file and include a second wim to use for install (one for Win 7 and one for MRI 5.5). I don't think the third part is relevant, though.

When I expand the build to the 32GB stick, I'll remove that and see what's up. Right now though, I'm king of the hill here. Everybody wants a copy. LOL

Maybe I'll include some alt-builds of XP and 7, home basic/premium and such....

hehehehehehe

I noticed you used hiddenmenu command, which isn't listed in Diddy's Grub4DOS Guide. Can you give more info, what you used it for, and describe its general usage similar to Diddy's Guide approach? Does it accept any parameters? Should it be combined with other commands to work properly?

hiddenmenu just hides the menu for a little bit so I can stare at my way cool 2009 USS Enterprise on a starfield.

That was hard to get a good looking version to show up in 14 colors.

I don't know of any parameters that hiddenmenu takes. Just clicking ESC (or any key??) will give me the menu.

Hi 1ring2rule,

If you don't mind to lend some help here,
I'm particularly interested in:
title Launch ERD for XP
find --set-root --ignore-floppies /ISO/FIRADISK.GZ
map --mem /ISO/FIRADISK.GZ (fd0)
map --hook
find --set-root --ignore-floppies /ISO/ERD50.iso.gz
map --mem /ISO/ERD50.iso.gz (0xff)
map --hook
chainloader (0xff)
this as i've been trying myself but can't get things to work, or rather, it doesn't se the hard disk where windows is installed.

So, a few questions and an assumption:
1. I assumed you compressed the iso with GZip compression?
hence: ERD50.iso.gz?
2. I've read on another thread where "wise old" Wonko suggests to use firadisk with ERD so detecting the os of windows would work However, I've not tried it because:
2.1 Wat does the firadisk.gz contain?
2.2 Do you use the same firadisk.gz for the x64 builds of ERD as well?

Sorry for the basics...
Hope you don't mind answering them.
Regards,

God on a stick?

Strange God you have my friend!

Whatever you put on that stick it are just toys, nothing more.

You are comparing toys with your god, hehehehe.

How clever this stick of you might look it is nothing comparing to any god.

You can blablabla me with things like "i don't believe" and shit like that but you could also pay some respect to the gods people are believing in.

Now doesn't that sounds like the words of an old goat or not?

I don't mind, i had to reply on this one, it doesn't look right comparing gods to silly software.

Hi 1ring2rule,

If you don't mind to lend some help here,
Launch ERD for XP

So, a few questions and an assumption:
1. I assumed you compressed the iso with GZip compression?k
hence: ERD50.iso.gz?

Regards,

No problem.

1, yes, I used Gzip to compress, hence the 7z extension.
2. Wonko is indeed wise. I believe that he gave me the solution. Either him or jaclaz or balder. Balder, I think, over on ezbsystems.com.

Firadisk (Italian ?? for Firedisk) is a floppy image I think. It sets up the environment for a good XP boot up. I use it in both the ERD 5.0 (for XP) and the LiveXP builds.

Firadisk.gz contains firadisk.img which is a floppy image, I believe.

and I use it on all of my ERD builds.

Firadisk as in Fira:

No, I am kidding , FIRA as in
FIle/RAm Disk

firadisk.img is a "F6" or "additional driver loading" floppy image.

BTW, and OT, I notice with appreciation that Hiren's was finally promoted from WAREZ to an allowed topic on the board, presented as a legal download anyone can use.

Many thanks for sharing. How about a GFXMenu to really impress people? See https://sites.google...orials/grub4dos

I like this. It's harder than hell to work with though. More coming soon.

@OneRing2Rule

Can you please post your Knoppix configfile?
Did it work with the latest 6.4 version?

Wonko

Wonko, Hiren's BootCD has dropped the "warez way of life" from version 13 or 14. Now i think is a bootcd filled with freeware/shareware programs.
