I tried to to make Win7 Image (just like XP for the first time). Here is what i did:
01. Installed Win7 on E: drive via NT6.X fast installer (Primary Partition 3)
02. Installed FiraDisk, ImDisk, tweaks and so on
03. Shrinked windows to 2.8x GB (entire drive's used space)
04. Removed from registry: HKLM\System\MountedDevices\DosDevices\C: and E:
05. Rebooted to G4D\FiraDisk\XP RamImage
07. Formatted the disk to NTFS from Windows drive context menu "Format", UnMounted.
08. Set Windows NT 6.x MBR from Bootice\Image tab\Process MBR button\
09. Set BOOTMGR PBR from Bootice\Image tab\Process PBR button\
10. Mounted and checked format (everything OK)
11. Copying Files to Image failed (permissions), tried to take make myself owner, took effective permission, assigned to child objects (again failed )
06. used IMG_XP_Create.exe, to create 3.5GB img (not sure if it has MBR or copy permissions as in process explorer is uses CMD /c xcopy)
title Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (RAM Image) find --set-root --ignore-floppies /XPRAM_1.img map --mem-min=4G map --mem /XPRAM_1.img (hd0) map --hook root (hd0,0) chainloader /bootmgr
Win7 somehow started but from partition and Found Ramdisk message appeared but DiskMGMT.MSC shows unknown virtual disk mounted Meaning what i'm trying to do didn't work
Found this guide but... is shows VHD (while I'm trying for IMG) http://www.boot-land...showtopic=10234
EDIT: I mounted Image, It has 2.17GB (obviously it didn't copy everything right)
