i am using SLAX and Trinity Rescue Kit from my usb drive and tried to add Hiren Boot CD as i like the MINI XP provided..
here's the i order of steps i performed
1. using universal usb installer installed slax on my usb
2. copied the trk3 folder, initrd and kernel to the usb and added
label trk3

menu label Run ^Trinity Rescue Kit 3.3

kernel /trk3/kernel.trk

append initrd=/trk3/initrd.trk ramdisk_size=65536 root=/dev/ram0 vga=788 splash=verbose pci=conf1 trkmenu

TEXT HELP

					 Run Trinity Rescue Kit

ENDTEXT
into to slax.cfg

now SLAX runs fine, i need to enter sdb1 to mount trkramfs file and run trk other wise it throws a shell and you have to doit manually to run...
but i am not able to run Hiren Boot cd... as i use syslinux and after alot of searching found not much...
plz help.

To fix this, you need to pass a volume label parameter to the kernel with your USB flash drive's volume name in your boot loader's config fiile. There is a forum topic on their site that states this and I actually use it. I don't remember the exact parameter but I think it is vollabel=YOUR_USB_FLASH_DRIVE'S_VOLUME LABEL.

@skyide: thankx now trinity boots just fine..
@Wonko the Sane: thankx for the info now i am using active boot disk instead of hiren..

i decided to drop syslinux and shifted to grub4dos.. the only annoying thing is that the boot graphics are not the best, but still it works .

i have only one problem left.
now i have the menu.lst as
default 0

timeout 30

color NORMAL HIGHLIGHT HELPTEXT HEADING

splashimage=/boot/splash.xpm.gz

foreground=FFFFFF

background=000000

the only problem is that active boot disk requires a name and key which i have to input every time i boot it.
the only work around is to have a file "BOOTDISK.KEY" at the root of the "C:" drive which is created by the Active Boot Disk itself. So is there a way to copy the file at C: from grub4dos itself as i can keep a copy in my USB disk..

thankx guys u're the greatest... :confused1:

Actually EXACTLY the "MINI XP" in Hiren's, being an unauthorized redistribution of MS files is WAREZ. :)
One of the scopes of this board and of Winbuilder is to create your own PE from your own files.

@akshay.is.gr8
Search for "gfxmenu" :confused1:
