Various help sites mention that, for building LiveXP using WinBuilder, you have use as source:
Windows XP SP2 or Windows 2003.

Is it not permitted to use Windows XP SP3 as the source?
Does the result of using SP3 produces an unbootable or non-functioning CD?

I cannot find a satisfactory answer to this question even after much searching!

Also being a newbie in winbuilder, I am not sure whether the Win-SP2-recommendation in the winbuilder site, is an older recommendation, before appearance of SP3 in the scene.

Some experts may please clarify.
regds.
earlier posted this in cd-forum, seems this is more appropriate.

You can use XP-Sp2-x86 and XP-Sp3-x86 sources, as well as 2k3-sp1-x86 and 2k3-sp2-x86 sources.
also you can use 2k3/xp-sp2-enu-x64 source too.

These are sources we make tests since they are most demanded....

Well everyone free to choose the source they prefer, I can say For a long while now using XP-Sp3-x86 source prefered more. <_<

Thanks LanceLot (& JonF) for the clarification.

I can say For a long while now using XP-Sp3-x86 source prefered more.

Till reading this, I was under the assumption, XP-SP2 is essential, or atleast the most optimum. (other than Win-2003). Similar to the BartPE-limitation of requiring XP-SP2 (which fails with SP3).

"Win-SP2-recommendation in the winbuilder site" --> this should be fixed by Nuno (I will be glad if can you provide link)

I also strongly feel that this should be updated/corrected, lest it would mislead others like me.
( I was scrambling to collect SP2-CD, which I have scrapped long ago, leaving only with SP3)

Following are the links, as I see:

Wich sources can be used to build my boot disk? :

LiveXP- Compatibity :

Don't use sources slipstreamed with nlite.

I am using original SP3 CD, so no problem there. But I have an incidental question.

Whether an SP3-CD integrated with Ryan-VM Update Packs (possibly userhidden's) can be used for LiveXP?
