ESET Smart Security BE 4.2 Portable (Beta 1)

Scan and remove viruses(no firewall)
This program will only start using RAM when it’s double clicked, iow it will start the eset service and the
graphical user interface when its started, this saves some ram if you don’t want to use your PE disk to
remove viruses ,it will also delete itself, delete registry keys and stop services and processes as soon as
you click the ok button on the “close ESET ?”Window
This program will also update from updates located on a flash drive
As long as you don’t have an ESET product on your normal windows (not the PE) you can run it to check –not remove—viruses (only tested on Windows XP so far but should work in vista an windows 7 if its “run as administrator” or if the UAC is disabled

Installation :
-Download the file here
-Unzip the files zipped up folder into a normal folder
-You may unzip the .script files in any of the project folders
-Point the script in Winbulder to the unzipped folder (to find Eset_4.2.exe)
-Please note that the program was only tested with the “boot from RAM” button unchecked but will probably work with is checked (not recommended uses a lot of ram!)

Setup Update for ESET:
The imbedded program will automatically find the latest updates for ESET
As long as you put the files on a folder called “nodv4_upd” on the root of the device
Eg:
C:\ nodv4_upd
D:\ nodv4_upd
Ect…
The update script in the zip folder will add a “nodv4_upd” folder to the root of the PE disk
The files that you should put into the “nodv4_upd” are the mirror files that you download
With the ESET mirror sever, or you can download a program called Nodview to download the mirror files
With a normal ESET Smart Security (or ESET Antivirus) username and password
Note that you WILL need a username and password to download the mirror files with Nodview
Copy all the mirror files into the “nodv4_upd” folder to do a successful update
You can also copy the “nodv4_upd” folder with the mirror files inside onto the root of a flash drive
If the updates are newer then the updates in the “nodv4_upd” folder on the PE disk, the imbedded
Program will update from the flash drive

Here is a the registry patch to enable "Strict cleaning" and "Smart scan" "archive scan"
I decided to keep "Potential unwanted applications" removal disabled,since a lot of "harmless" hack ware and cracks gets removed by this option
the download link is Here
Just copy and override the existing APX.reg with the new APX.reg
I have not tested this as yet,so tell me if there are problems with this fix
I will have test if fully by the end of the month

Post here if you have questions

Not to hijack the thread DarkPheniX (just answering Felix)..

Felix, there is an Avast portable that you can get.. believe it is a BartPE..not 100% sure on that part.. but I know you can DL an ISO of it and run it from USB,, currently do that with my portable AIO.. i just found it and it is a Bart-CD.. you can get it from HERE and you can add it to your grub4dos menu.lst and run it that way..

unfortunately its not a script that you can add for winbuilder, in which I am nto sure how to do that either..but if i find out a way, will sure to let you know.. but figured maybe you could use the above at least since want Avast

Also,, nice one DarkPheoniX.. might have to see if i can possibly add this to my Win7PE that I am working on from Wimb.. :hyper:

It should work in a win7 environment since win7's core is a lot like vista
I have tested this on my VMware XP Pro ,and it works their too!!
like i said it should work on non-PE systems too...(check to run it as administrator)

Im also working on a installer script that installs "strict cleaning" settings and updates the AV with the mirror files upon installation ,it also knows what kind of system it installs on (x64/x86) and will decide to install the correct version of eset
This is going to be useful if you have to install eset a lot(like me)
i will post this up here too(thou this is not something fore PE)

For the record, I just checked and it seems like that thing retails for a mere 150 bucks. :D for a one year licence.

Due to the nature of our BART CD product, we do not offer a standard trial version. We do, however, offer a limited free trial of BART CD to qualified applicants. Please fill out this form to request a 14 day trial license of this product. You will get an e-mail with further instructions upon completion.

Please note: This product is primarily intended for corporate and service personnel use, and we regret we are unable to consider requests from "free" emails (such as, though not limited to, hotmail or yahoo!) We thank you for your understanding.

@Klaus21
Since ESET asks you for the update files in ROOT of the drive, have you tried placing them there (instead of inside "ESET Update")?
Or maybe it's the folder name that is "wrong". :)
Standard uses "Updfiles", seemingly:
http://kb.eset.com/e...ent&id=SOLN2134
or "Update":
http://owersite.com/...2-20100816.html

@Klaus21

Just read my intro again

the error:
"This program could not find any Updates please make sure that the Updates are ready to be found on the root of your drive !!"
This means that the Script i made cannot find the the update on the ROOT of any drive..

So here is what you do:

Download NodView from here : http://nodview.net.ru/
(the web page is Russian but their is a link for a English download for the app,use Google translate if you cannot find the download link on the website)
Direct link for English version here

Setup the Nodview with a authentic Eset user name(EAV-XXXXXXX or ESS-XXXXXXX) and password ,then download the updates

Rename the mirror folder(the folder with the updates in it) in the Nodview folder to "nodv4_upd"(no quotations) and copy the folder to the root of your PE disk or flash drive
Eg:
C:\ nodv4_upd
D:\ nodv4_upd
E:\ nodv4_upd
F:\ nodv4_upd

if the program finds the update files it should update ESET to the version of files located on the folder
here is a pic of my flash drive with the eset updates...
Posted Image

Spybot Portable works in the same way..
just copy the "includes" folder to the flash drive's ROOT!!!

Hope this helps???

Thank you for your reply. I will again try again.
In preparation I can take my current data (\ All Users \ ESET \ ESET Smart Security \ Updfiles \ *. nup), but how do I update it at run time?
I probably put me on something stupid - sorry.

Regards Klaus

@Klaus21

I don't think you can use those files....
it has to be MIRROR files
So if you have the ESET LAN mirror program you can just copy the "mirror" folder to the root of a flash drive and rename it
the most impotent file is update.ver
If you don't have the ESET LAN mirror program you can Use Nodview(like me)
If you dont want nod view to download the updates don't put in your ESS user-name and password into the program,it has a feature to update from the installed ESET updates on the computer as well....

The script will "look" for updates on all drives as soon as it is run from the PE-Disk
if it finds newer updates on a root of a flash drive it will update from their rather then from the root of the PE-Disk

Thank you for your quick response.
I had the following consideration - using wget to get all *. nup and *.ver files.
've Ever tried to build something but it does not yet exist.
wget-r-A *. nup-nd-a eset.txt http://www. "eset-server"
wget-r-A *. VER-nd-a eset.txt http://www. "eset-server"
You might have another idea?

@Klaus21
I'm not sure what you mean please elaborate?
What are you trying to do?

Eset portable was not originally made for a internet connection since most PE-Disks will never see a internet connection like my Vista-PE..

Oh, and i found a lot of apps that i want to use but it dose not exist
that's why i make my own scripts...

@DarkPhoeniX
My idea of the update files from the Eset servers wget.exe was without NodView download.
Sorry that I have expressed myself somewhat unclear.

@Klaus21
You cant log in to The ESET servers without a ESET User-name and Password
The ESET servers also need a Secure Connection ,so not every browser or download app can connect without having a Spacial file only shipped with the AV
Nodview has a emulation of this file needed
