Can I install Ubuntu on my PC on External Hard Drive? Then, plug the External Hard Drive to another dissimilar PC and still boot?

if you're talkin' about 10.4 my answer is twice YES. that's what I've done several times with no problem at all.
That means no need for another installation right? Since, it is already installed in the external hard drive.
BTW can ubuntu automatically detect SATA drives unlike Win XP that you have to slip stream the SATA drivers first?
