firewall is not a good idea. it shouldn't be removed then wpeutil gives errors. for to get it work need to add lots of stuff. and the worst part none of the internet related programs works because by default it doesn't allow them to connect. i don't understand what you mean with firewall? shouldn't be stuff that nobody get it work. then is gets out of topic and turn to a what you want in a winpe topic. we can't compare what we don't have. if there is one that others don't have it can be stated as extras.

should be something like
http://en.wikipedia....dows_7_editions

Edit: It looks better now.

Example comparation chart

topic splitted from here from post 2 to post 18

they are sample only. not real. will be win7rescupepe,makepe3 etc. list can be more. but should be technical. people should know what they will have after build.

i can share some of my builds with ludovici. he looks enough clever to turn them to usefull stuff i think. he can comment if they are usefull or not.

I think device support ( video drivers in particular ) and control panel / administrative tools are the most important.

Integrated shutdown via the explorer shutdown button would be nice.

anybody get video drivers to work in vistape or win7pe ever?

Integrated shutdown via the explorer shutdown button would be nice.
i am sure it is connected with a file or folder in
programdata (not big to search for)
users (not big to search for)
winsxs (most complex) (explorer, terminal services, power, session env, reboot shutdown related stuff added to image. also filemaps and manifest of them)
wbem (not so big there was explorer, reboot shutdown related stuff i think)

i get it work with every button but nobody belive me becasuse i dont have that wim. also that was build with win7rescuepe without touched to registry(i remember so) and want to hear technical explanation why it cant work? i only remember what folders files add and worked on when it was worked. and i remember i started all services with serviwin. wim size was 346mb when it work.

http://www.msfn.org/...yresume-issues/ can be helpfull to trace?

"Added the -noPrepReboot command at shutdown tracing to prevent the preparatory reboot during a shutdown/rebootCycle trace"

also it can work without shutdown for trace i think as it writes.

The table in post #2 is a nice approach to enable quick comparison.

The present build times in the table are a bit misleading since typical WinBuilder build time is 10-30 minutes
whereas build time of batch program using only files from drive with installed Windows 7 is only 4 minutes.

why misleading? i don't think so. you shouldn't complain about it. because it is the most advantage of your project to others. if they do the same job there will be a decision for people who wants to build short and easiest way. and didn't look to clock but it was less then 4 minutes in my experiences in my old pc.

why misleading?

The data in the table show up the reverse.
5 min for WinBuilder and 10 min for Batch

It should be
20 min for WinBuilder and 5 min for Batch

They are RANDOM data and chart only prepared to GIVE OPINION about comparation.I prepared in 5 minutes only and I DIDN'T do a comparation. There is no X build Y build. The chart can be extended or removed. It needs helps of users who used or try them at least once and know minus and plus parts of them.

Hello,,
I question the original intent of topic.

Title is
Question about a new Win7PE

First topic is
What is the service than you want in Win7PE

Then it goes right to comparing different Win7PE’s

Was the original intent of this topic to poll and/or find out what services people would like to see available in Win7PE?

And will an add services script be project specific? --x86 x64 Win7PE

Please enlighten me,,,,,,, ;)

in Status of the Win7Pe's topic there was Wonko's

I would surely love to see, as a first step in the right direction the names of the seven projects you counted and also a link for each of them, this way someone that may have the time and will to do the test/comparison, will at least be able to find WHAT to test/compare.

at start of this topic there was Ludovici's

Hello Everybody
I have follow this topic Status of the win7Pe's

i thought he will wrote about comparation. and also he didnt say else to my post number 2

then is gets out of topic and turn to a what you want in a winpe topic. we can't compare what we don't have.

i didnt undertstand too.

If you would like to compare which projects offers what services. Or what project offers what options,, that would be nice. Then a reader would have an idea what project he/she would like to try

With services….I have seen post asking for … just a few listed
DirectX different versions
Net
VB
Installers
Bitlocker

With Lodvici services script a lot of these are offered, but which are more important to most users. And if these scripts are for Win7 do they work in both x86 and x64 versions?

Having a good list of good working scripts to use in Win7 projects would be nice

Lodvici has tried to include most services in his service script

Wimb has included many services in Make_PE 3

JFX has a basic build with a VcrunTimes script available

Vvurat you say anything is possible,,,,

And if you included scripts in a Multi Win7PE then they should work with all builds

Right now its just a matter of what do you think is important and testing to make sure they work in all builds,,

Just me...............

%95 of services can work. hardware related ones and like prefetch can not and also no need to work. i shared 2 builds with ludovici. it is just a matter of if he can turn them to scripts or not. waiting of his comments about my builds. it is very difficult job to turn a built one to scripts. if he can i will be surprised.

Well that’s the point I think he is asking which are most important, and that’s why the poll.

I am sure he has lots of work to do, and would like some direction,

no. he opened topic before. i don't know what he think. i want to hear opinions of another guru only. maybe he can find usefull stuff. maybe i can see something i wrong.

ispys charts would be completely useless in this case. All win7 projects would show the exact same results.
