first of all, sorry if it is not the right place to post it, because this post can be apply to vista/server 2008 too.

Install windows NT6 family (Vista/server2008/seven) from USB can be done by extracting DVD (iso) file to usb. this methode has limitation that usb/partition can not contain multiple installation source.

then i am experimenting to split installation sources "virtually". i used vhd file to split the installation sources, boot to windows 7 PE, mount vhd file then run setup.exe from Windows 7 PE. this methode was successfully tested to install Windows vista and Seven. then i think if it can be done with VHD, it might work with Virtual Drive and ISO file two. so i tried to integrating UltraIso Virtual Drive to Windows 7 PE to install Vista/Seven

Now My_7PE.cmd has option to integrate UltraIso (and 2 Virtual Drive), it was succesfully tested to install Vista and Seven from iso file, it might work for Windows server 2008 too.

to install Windows NT6 from ISO file:
1. Install UltraIso trial version on Windows 7 PC.
download from here: http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/
2. Build bootable UFD with Windows 7 PE using My_7PE.cmd from this post : http://www.boot-land...showtopic=11801
3. copy windows Vista/seven/server 2008 iso file to ufd. it is not necessary to use the same ufd, you can use others ufd or external hdd.
4. Boot to Windows 7 PE
5. Mount required iso file to Virtual drive Y or Z
6. run setup.exe and install as usual.

note: My_7PE support windows 7 x86 only, so it can be used to install windows NT6 32 bit only.

Just a question in passing by:
Why Ultraiso (which is a Commercial tool) when there are a number of Freeware tools capable of creating a virtual cdrom drive?

I mean is there any actual *need* for Ultraiso or the method can be adapted to use another driver?

As an example:

The signed version appears like to be soon released:

Ultraiso trial version can be used, virtual drive working on trial version, limitation only for editing iso file size. it is like ultraiso in Amalux portable software collection but integrated to Windows PE to have virtual drive.

no special need for ultraiso, mean "any" virtual drive can be used. i tried poweriso too, virtual drive also working but application very slow to start.

if more people succeed install from iso file, i will try to add others virtual drive (free/trial with no time limit), also the one you "suggested"
