I have a working LiveXP from WinBuilder 76. But now I wanted to create a new LiveXP so I can update to the new Acronis True Image 2010 to support Windows 7.

Each time I start the LiveXP on USB drive , I get this error message "TXTSETUP.SIF is corrupt or missing, status 2". Any idea why I'm getting this?

I tried several times with the following:

Try 1:6
OS: Windows XP SP3
Source: Windows XP SP2
Result: LiveXP BootSDI

Try 2:
WinBuilder 0.78sp6
OS: Windows XP SP3
Source: Windows 2003 Server SP2
Result: LiveXP BootSDI

Try 1:
WinBuilder 0.78sp1
OS: Windows XP SP3
Source: Windows XP SP2
Result: LiveXP BootSDI

Try 2:
WinBuilder 0.78sp1
OS: Windows XP SP3
Source: Windows 2003 Server SP2
Result: LiveXP BootSDI

Try 3:
WinBuilder 0.80
OS: Windows XP SP3
Source: Windows XP SP2
Result: LiveXP BootSDI

Try 4:
WinBuilder 0.80
OS: Windows XP SP3
Source: Windows 2003 Server SP2
Result: LiveXP BootSDI

NOTE: It wouldn't allow to attach the txtsetup.sif here.

If you by any mistake have a WinBuilder 081 alpha or similar installed in your system, delete it.
As we got to know today, that (even if not running) brings builds to crash.

(Just kidding, do not take it seriously!
But I can promise you, that soon here will be a reply explaining that / why I'm lying or postgaming, proofed by a long list of links. And sorry, you are really innocent. You are just reporting an issue.
Or this post will be moved to Boot Land > Groups > WinBuilder > Bug Tracker > Bugs found in beta versions of WinBuilder.exe)

Peter

Peter: Let's hope someone can help me and track down this issue. This indeed very interesting issue. This is the first time I got this. At first I thought it have to do with source so I tried both Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 Server SP2.

Can you attach a complete "debug log"

"Debug Log": Tools > Options > Debug log in the right middle checked

Why not possible to attach txtsetup.sif? If security issues, consider to PM me.

Check your pm. This is the message I get when I try to attach the txtsetup.sif file" Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload this type of file." I turn on the debug and using WinBuilder 0.80 to create the LiveXP. Where is the debug log located when finish?

Thanks MedEvil. Here is the log and txtsetup.sif. They are created using WinBuilder 78SP6 with the Windows XP SP2 as the build source.

The log and txtsetup.sif is created using Winbuilder 0.80 with the build source Windows 2000 server SP2. I downloaded the minimum version Looking at the log, it seem that it can't find some files such as sp2.cab which is in the source. There ar others wrror, etc.

Hi magic12kenneth,

I could not understand your acronis goal on your post  , here is the support:

your post7 log shows the build of post 7 is from an old copy.
thanks on post8 for testing with an updated version.

All logs shows you are using wimboot to build , NOT bootsdi as written on post #1.
I am pretty sure your post8 resulting with LiveXP_WIM.ISO boots in an emulator.

I feel you probably miss something when you transfer LiveXP to your ufd.

There are numerous way to have LiveXP boot from ufd,
Since instruction is simpler here is one:
You seem already have practice with ufd booting hence you highly probably know how to use grub4dos menu.lst on your ufd.
*
Copy LiveXP_WIM.ISO to your ufd root, and use a utility like wincontig to make LiveXP_WIM.ISO contigious.

on your menu.lst use

title LiveXP_WIM - mem
find --set-root /LiveXP_WIM.ISO
map --mem /LiveXP_WIM.ISO (hd32)
map --hook
chainloader (hd32)

Additional info:
above explanation also valid when you use CreateISO to have LiveXP.iso

title LiveXP.iso (0xFF)
find --set-root /LIVEXP.ISO
map --mem /LIVEXP.ISO (0xFF)
map --hook
chainloader (0xFF)

edit: for LiveXP.iso booting with grub4dos, enable LiveXP\Drivers\5 Ramdisk -> Firadisk

Have fun.

Well, if you think this is a bug of beta winbuilder.exe, then sure the post is more appropriate there. But that's not likely given that he hasn't tested an alpha version, I'm not sure why you make the suugestion that that would be the place to post.

If you're wondering about the correct place to post the issue indicated

Each time I start the LiveXP on USB drive , I get this error message "TXTSETUP.SIF is corrupt or missing, status 2". Any idea why I'm getting this?

then probably it would have been better in the subforum reserved for such issues: "Boot from USB / Boot anywhere".

Regards,
Galapo.

The reason that is different from the first post because I deleted the temp files before I post the topic. So I have to redo it to create the log and txtsetup.sif.

I will test out those suggestions and report back.

If you look at the log, there are several files that is unable to copy from the source even thought it is there. Is it because it is missing a tool to uncompress?

I don't know if this is a bug from WinBuilder. This is what I wanted to find out what is the cause to the problem.
