EDIT by psc:
After sending the previous first post back to origin, here the necessary information:

So you are saying you have removed windows 7 as the build platform?

Also as I am sure you are aware MS prohibits redistribution of AIK and windows components.

Believe you should investigate using the PSC wimcaptex approach if you want to remove dependency on AIK components.

To be correct:

WimCaptEx still (?) also uses wimgapi.dll (and for mount wimmount.sys and wimserv.exe). But they are copied from your Win7 source CD, which you own legally.

Presume that would present a problem if you are using vista source. Although would be ok if running on win7 as the components come with the OS.

nativeEx_Win7 is declared to work with Win7.
And WimCaptEx is explained to be a part of nativeEx_Win7.

I'm a "registered Vista enemy" and do not care Vista at all.

Did a test the other day of the bloated Vista against the newer better Win7, on old hardware.

Vista booted in 1,45 min. Win7 booted in 2 min.

Interesting! Isn't it?

Never found vista to be any more bloated than win7. I always found it to be exceedingly reliable. Never crashed once on me in a year of use. Only moved to win7 because it was the latest os not because it was any better.

Maybe I have to revise my decision I made when Vista came up.
But I decided because of all the troubles I#ve had with Vista.

Therefore currently (as long as I did not revise) my effort is going to Win7 only.

Well then I think we should delete this complete section or topic..

If Vista and Win7 are “bloated” then I will go back to XP but why use “Bloated” versions of XP.

Barts is the way to go ….

Maybe you misunderstood:

My personal choice is Win7.

And as known, nearly all project authors create projects of their choice or tools working with ??? following their choice
Same I did when creating nativeEx_Win7.

Peter :whistling:

BTW: I hope it is understood, that nativeEx_Win7 does not give ANY support for Vista because of:

BTW2: The 'magic' files cannot be copied from the Vista source CD, because they are not there ...

It is ok when an admin moves OFFTOPIC posts to a different location.

But it is not ok, to simultaneously move Paraglider's INTOPIC uncomfortable post about distributing undistributable files in the project and how that could be solved.

Also as I am sure you are aware MS prohibits redistribution of AIK and windows components.

Believe you should investigate using the PSC wimcaptex approach if you want to remove dependency on AIK components.

I sent that post back to the origin. See first post.
