TeutonPE.de

I have made a simple fast & stylish, PE.System based on Barts PEBuilder, but beware everything is in a pre-alpha stage. The Project & all OpenSource Plugins are hosted on Sourceforge, My Preinstalled System takes up 7.920 Kb of RAM (without Blackbox GUI) and 13,996 Kb with GUI. I have replaced most of the libraries with Open Source Alternatives from ReactOS, wine and wineHQ. Everything is skinnable. The GUI comes with 4 preconfigured Skins (3DC+Wallpaper+BlackboxStyle+BlackboxWindowDecoration).

I have also worked out two small linux distribution Plugins (Damn small Linux & CloneZilla) and there is also a ReactOS live plugin, everything can exist right beside your PE.

Another usefull Plugin is the Grub4DOS Plugin wich can handle different Bootsectors, Bootdiscs and Bootmanagers. All Plugins come with a NSIS (nullsoft superpimp installer system) Installer.The (Grub4Dos) Multiboot Plugin v. 0.0.0.2 is able to download some old school Dos & Windows Bootfloppy images from the internet and embedds them into your PE-builder as a Plugin.

However, i think you must have made a typo or i read this complete wrong.

These values just can't be right, 14MB RAM usage for a PE including a GUI?

after some basic tests, I guess: TeutonPE uses BBSystemBar (-->probably low ram ) and plugins include magic that add BBSystembar startmenu

I see a good organisation on website. I guess it will expand in future .

minor idea for "TeutonPE_0.0.3.11_pre-alpha.exe", maybe adding .DS_Store to some plugins (ex: a43) that already comes with pebuilder is a good idea, or not...

:-) Hard to believe I know but its true here is a proof

Ahh yes, typical misconception.
On a 'normal' XP there is a pagefile. On a PE there is none, yet XP insists on needing a pagefile. XP solves this problem by using a part of the RAM as pagefile. Thus on a PE the virtual RAM usage or pagefile usage is also 'real' RAM usage.
So to get the real memory footprint of a PE, one needs to add the RAM usage and the virtual RAM usage.

Will give your project a spin to check how low it can go.

a minor question, is there a way to download all plugins . (except one by one )

and an idea, maybe TeutonPE_0.0.3.11_pre-alpha.exe can download and extract pebuilder3110a.zip when there is not pebuilder.exe on target . (like TeutonPE Multiboot 0.0.0.2). Well there is no way to make none-reader dumy proof package, but at least it helps on some level. As far as I know pebuilder3110a.zip link does not change

Mine is only an idea/suggestion for a "mid-way" solution (I know, a bad habit around)

And what if one is NOT wanting to creatre a none-reader dummy proof package?

Thanks for the suggestion. I plan to make a installer which contains all plugins, but remind everything is in alpha Stage, and therefore I will wait for bugs or new ideas. When everything is fine i will script a installer which is able to download & install all plugins at once or unique selection. I already have made a new installer that is able to download & embed plugins during the runtime (only USB & HDD Boot). Thanks

For the record Wonko the Sane never suggested to have a "global" installer and definitely NOT to have it download ANYTHING.

You have to thank Lancelot about this nice idea (which Wonko the Sane considers pure folly , as it will probably soon make everything outdated, UNLESS you have full control over the download sources AND you will mantain them).

Hi teuton,

At last I find time to make more test.

I downloaded all plugins (date 20100317) and make a build (no multiboot , only plugins)
Wonderfull, in 90 seconds I have 550 MB nice working iso file

one small thing, "TestDisk 6.11 TPE Plugin.exe" leave "..\Plugin\TeutonPE-OSS\TestDisk\plugins\BartPE\start.inf" file which naturally cause pebuilder plugin configuration window fail. I renamed start.inf to start.inf_Renamed to avoid.

Multiboot plugins* works verrrrry nice
+ dsl and floppies boots nicely - but reactos boot failed here - clonezilla could not boot automatically with graphic mode

Some Comments:

I see you worked hard for opaque but truely it is hard to use (at least for me) with especially black default gui, black is a very bad color which cause missings on applications gui. (this is comment for default settings, final decision is yours)

It maybe nice to provide dps package plugin (ready to use) for new TeutonPE users. (maybe "Driver" sub branch on sourceforge)
+
It maybe nice to make a ~20MB (+maybe dps mass) package with a simple tutorial for unexperienced users. Just an idea.

just download new plugins and noticed, It is a verrrrry bad idea to create .lnk files in plugins by installer :(
