Win7PE Startup Problem
Posted 17 March 2010 - 09:27 PM
i need your help.
I´ve been trying to build a Multi7PE-USB-Stick for about 2 Days now. I already have a BartPE-Stick, and a Vista-PE-Stick, so i don´t think i´m a complete greenhorn in booting from USB.
But my Rescue-7-PE-Stick won´t let me start.
I followed the Tutorial for building it step by step, tried with several Win7-DVDs, and different Versions of WAIK.
Everything boots normally, i can see the background-image, also i can see the resolution switching to what i enter in the Winbuilder-Configuration. But shortly after that the computer (i tried on many of them) just restarts.
I really don´t know what the Problem is, since i don´t get any Error-Message, it just goes back to Bios-POST.
I use Winbuilder 0.80, and downloaded only the Recommended Scripts of Rescue PE.
I changed In-Ram-Build to Normal-Build, tried Explorer and BS-Explorer as Main Shell... no change.
Can anyone help me on how to find out what the Problem is?

if you choose bsexplorer as shell you also have to enable the bs explorer script otherwise a fault like you described will occur

The moment my PE crashes is exactly when the Explorer should be loaded.
I switched from "Explorer" to "BS Explorer", and activated "BS Explorer 2" under "Shell", now everything works fine.
I still don´t know why normal "Explorer" wont work, but BS Explorer is OK for me.
2 little Problems left:
1. Anyone knows why is "In-Ram"-Build Mode is so much faster in building, but so extremely slow in booting? I can use normal Build-Mode which takes longer, and boots up with 0x0000007b on most computers (but there is a fix called usb_boot.bat for it), but i don´t understand why it is like this :-)
2. My wireless LAN is found in PENetwork 5 beta, but i cannot select it in the configuration screen. It is a Intel Wireless LAN 4958 AGN Wireless.
The drivers are loaded, i can see my wireless-LED flashing. But i cannot configure it... (theres just my Broadcom LAN within the configuration Page)
Thanks for your help so far.
