I keep getting a message that tells me I need to be connected to the Internet. I am connected. The program is running with Administrator rights and I added a rule on Windows Firewall to allow it to connect. Compatibility modes with XP or Vista don't work either. The version is Winbuilder 080.
¿Can Winbuilder run on Windows 7?

Current version of 80 is working fine for me on win7 x64. Note version 80 has been silently updated several times so I recommend you re-download winbuilder to make sure you have the latest version.
I am using a direct internet connection - no proxy.

We need more details.
What type of connection are you using?
Is it based on proxy? (for example inside a company, school or similar)
Thanks

I am having the same problem on Vista. I use a direct connection at home (Windows 7) and through a router at work (Windows Vista). I had no issues with updates on version 075. I will follow paraglider's suggestion and redownload the file to see if it solves any conflicts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------update: Downloaded the file again, same results. The computers I am trying the file on have never had Winbuilder in the past. Do I need to download a previous version, update the projects and then update the winbuilder.exe file?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
New update: Downloaded 078 SP6 same issue, 078 no service pack same issue, downloaded 076 and it worked. There must be a change in between which is causing my grief. Temp solution: I renamed WinBuilder.exe (The 080) to WinBuilder_NEW.exe. That way both 076 and 080 can run from the same directory. I will download from 076 and compile with 080.

Originally winbuilder used the built in api's for internet access. Then it switched to using a third party library. Ever since then some people have experienced problems.
