Hi,
I wanted to put both images on my usb stick to be able to boot both of them with unetbootin. but due to the fact that mint is based on ubuntu, it has a similar folder structure and might causes problems when i put both on them on the stick and just edit the syslinux.cfg to get all the boot entries.

To solve this I tried to move everything that belongs to each of the distros into a subfolder, like "/mint_8_x32" and "/ubuntu_910_x32" and just edit the syslinux.cfg-entries accordingly.
Turns out this breaks shit and it doesnt work. it shows the entries after boot, but booting mint or ubuntu is impossible.

is there a save way to use subfolders for multiple distros?
if not it would be an awesome feature for an upcomming version
(or maybe anyone could recommend me a tool that can do this somehow)

You can try using grub4dos .iso mapping, at least on one of the two "conflicting" distros:

I just looked at grub4dos and it lookes like a huge chunk of command line chaos.
no chance that i'll ever understand and/or use that. if there IS a solution, it needs to be easy, and hours of command line fuckup ain't easy .

i did, and i didn't see this one anywhere. maybe i am just stupid.
anyway, grub4dos, not a solution.

I do appreciate the gratitude and simpathy that transpires from your post about the work done by the grub4dos developers, though.

It's linux --> there will be a solution, just maybe not within my lifetime.

And i do appreciate the developers' work, just not the fact that their app is missing an easy to use GUI. And IMHO any app without a GUI might as well die and rot in hell. using command line is so 1960s.
