File name: Recuva
Description:Recuva (pronounced "recovuh") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin and other files that have been deleted by user error. Now works with iPods.

Tested in Vista PE and LiveXP and should work with any project.

Major update 26 Jul 2009. The script now downloads the latest version automatically. You can also select your preferred language at build time.

Updated 25 Oct 2009 for even more robust version detection and downloading, and using x64 version where appropriate.

Thanks!

Will try to download later.

The boot-land servers are experiencing some problems due to an overload of traffic.

We are actively working to try to fix/alleviate these problems.

Please be patient, try coming back in half an hour or so, do not insist in trying to access boot-land right now, your attempts may worsen the problem by increasing the load on the server.

If you need urgent help, you may try to use the Chat feature.

If you came here for "generic" help on topics like PE builds, installing XP, booting or multibooting problems, you may want to try asking for help in either of these two forums:
911cd.net - Specialized in PE builds and alternative discussion point for winbuilder projects
MSFN - General Windows related discussion

For "specific" help on topics like Winbuilder and it's main projects, VistaPE, LiveXP, native_Ex, etc. you may want to try again later.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for that. I'll update the Recuva script in LiveXP with this one.

I get the following error when trying to build my VistaPE ISO, specifically on the recuva build

"IniRead - Failed to find file: [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\Recuva\RecuvaVer.ini]"

Any ideas? Thanks in advance, guys!

It really helps if you post a log.

Try with your antivirus scanner turned off. Sometimes AV scanners see the program which creates RecuvaVer.ini as a virus and prevent it from running.

Sorry! I turned off my AV program and I am still having problems (the same). Here's the log as requested. Thanks for your help, Jon, and please advise!

Can you check if C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\LocalSettings\Temp\Recuva\GetRecuvaCurrentVersion.exe exists after the Recuve script runs?

If it does, try this from a command line::

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\LocalSettings\Temp\Recuva\GetRecuvaCurrentVersion.exe" "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Recuva\DownloadPage.htm" "C:\WinBuilder\Workbench\Common\Recuva\RecuvaVer.ini"

Does that create C:\WinBuilder\Workbench\Common\Recuva\RecuvaVer.ini?

Does that create C:\WinBuilder\Workbench\Common\Recuva\RecuvaVer.ini?

The "GetRecuvaCurrentVersion.exe" exists, so I copied and pasted "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\LocalSettings\Temp\Recuva\GetRecuvaCurrentVersion.exe" "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Recuva\DownloadPage.htm" "C:\WinBuilder\Workbench\Common\Recuva\RecuvaVer.ini" into the command line, but made one change (put a space in "LocalSettings --> Local Settings") and ran it. I didn't get any errors, but I also did not get a RecuvaVer.ini in the "C:\WinBuilder\Workbench\Common\Recuva\" path? Any other advice?

Try attaching this file in the script and see what happens. Watch it while it builds; there are some dialog boxes with 10 second timeouts.

Jon,

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I "attach this file in the script" exactly?

Highlight the script in the left pane. Click the small wrench just to the left of the "Recuva" tile in the right pane. Click the Attachments button. Highlight the folder in which the file is stored (I forget what I called it and can't look right now). Click "Add". Either drag-and-drop the new file on the popup window, or click the Add button an select it. Click the read X at the right top to close the editing mode (don't close Winbuilder!)

Jon,

Thanks for the advice. I attached the file from the 7z you sent (the .exe) to the script. I noticed a file that had the same name already attached. I added the file and then ran the script, but never got prompted. The build failed the same way as it had before. Attached is the log and a screenshot of the attachment. Thanks again.

Something in your system is preventing that program from running. It is most likely your AV program. But if it is not, I don't know what it is, but it's doing it.
