The previous Windows PE 2.0 had some partition creation problems before installing Windows Xp :

You cannot install Windows XP successfully after you use Windows Vista or Windows PE 2.0 to create partitions on a hard disk

Is there anyone who tried the diskpart tool coming with Win PE 3.0 to install Windows XP? Does PE 3.0 require some registry tweakings to run the diskpart tool before running winnt32.exe to install Xp?

Well, not exactly, you need to correct the alignment values in the Registry, then it will work allright. ;)

use the ALIGN switch when you run diskpart - e.g.

DISKPART
CLEAN
SEL DISK 0
CRE PAR PRI SIZE=10000 ALIGN=16065
format FS=NTFS quick
exit

Then run bootsect /nt52 or download RMPrepUSB v1 which contains RMBootSect which does the equivalent of the MS bootsect.
