Some quote from MSFN forum:

From the WINPE 2.0 command prompt run in the following order

netcfg /winpe
wpeutil InitializeNetwork
netsh interface ipv4 set address "Local Area connection" static youripaddress yourmask yourgateway 1

This gets me a static ip in winpe 2.0 you can add dns and wins as well.

Some quote from MSFN forum:,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Few days ago, I got staticIP in my VistaPE searching in web days and nights.
You will find them in Vista Library in netsh usage page.
For convenience, I'll show most useful command lines here.
netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.100 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 1
netsh interface ip set address "Local Area Connection" dhcp [ for Dynamic ip]
netsh interface ip set dns "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.200
netsh interface ip set dns "Local Area Connection" dhcp [for Dynamic dns]
netsh interface ip set wins "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.200
netsh -c interface dump > c:\location1.txt [Export DHCP to c:\ location]
netsh -f c:\location1.txt [Import from c:\test file into DHCP]

You can change your network name what you want.
Consider one sentense in each command line and substitute with your IP adress and subnet mask and DNS address. Please see details in V_Library"wired LAN" page.

Thanks for your advice. I'll try it this weekends.
One thing, VistaPE does NOT boot HPs. I tried on 2, both failed during booting.

Hi 'NightMan'

Thanks for your reply, yes, they are HP computers.
The error is related to I/O addresses.
Nexe week, I'll copy that error and post here.
Boot time is very very slow.
On DELL PCs, it is OK, but quite slow as well.

By the way, ftp server doesn't work because of browser service.
NetBiosTable shows Computer name and WORKGROUP is already regisgered but MS Browser doesn't appear at all.
Checking Services, Lanmanserver does not start.
Checking Reg, Lanmanserver keys are correctly found.
Checking Modules on Lanmanserver, Browser service is dead.
Srv, Srv1, Srv2 all dlls are loaded.

When I run a HTTP Server on VPE, it is running, but can't browse any of it. :P
I think Browser service is depend on explorer.exe from Vista.
But I'm trying to find some clue in web.

Regards

Hi Yahoouk,
I've booted an HPDC7600 workstation, HP DC7700 workstation and HP ML350 G5P server without problems today. I just started messing with the project last night and was curious to see results today. I was very pleased to notice that I could see the raid 5 array on the HP server without adding any drivers myself! This is fantastic news and hopefully adding HP mass storage drivers to this project will be easier and less tedious than with Bart-PE.

When I tried to start network via Penetcfg, the ml350 G5 complained about not finding factory.exe, bartpe.exe and something else in system32. I havent had a chance to play around with it further to troubleshoot but was excited by initial results.

What problems were you having and what HP were you trying to boot? I'm trying to migrate from BartPE to this project for unattended XP\2k3 installs and am concerned/curous by your reports as I deploy exclusively HP machines to my customers.

Regards,
Dan

Hi YahooUK,
We transitioned to the newest DC7600's and I haven't had a chance to try on a DC5100. We sell workstations and servers to customers so by the time I played with VistaPE the 5100 had rolled out of stock. I have an old one laying around at work, I'll bring it home and test it on. Very interesting that it wont work.

Did you add drivers to it?
