Installing XP in Classic Mode

HI

When installing windows in Normal manner you will see Graphical pages
and a lot of notes and ...

You can install XP in Classic mode too.in this way the setup process
will take a little bit less time,and also the setup process will be
shown as installing the normal program,take a look at setup page in
fig_1 in attachment.

For installing in classic mode do as below:

1_.Delete the files winntbbu.dll and winntbbu.dl_ from your XP setup CD.

2_.Open txtsetup.sif by notepad (from your XP setup CD) and search for
all instances of winntbbu.dll,and delete the Entire line that has
winntbbu.dll on it.

3_.Open dosnet.inf by notepad (from your XP setup CD) and do the same as
step above by this file too.

Thats All.Now if you Burn your CD,when using, the setup process will be classic.

Note: If you want you can change the back ground of classic setup page as below:

A) Make your favorite BMP background (BMP,800x600 , 256 color),and save it by the
name of setup_w.bmp in C:\

Go to command prompt and type:
makecab c:\setup_w.bmp
and hit Enter key from keyboard.by this command,the system will make file
"SETUP_W.BM_" in address below:

Documents and Settings\Administrator\

of course if the user name is for example xxxx, the fill will be produced in:
Documents and Settings\xxxx\

C) Now you can change this file (SETUP_W.BM_) by the one in the I386 directory
of your XP CD.and burn your CD...

How about a short tutorial as an alternative method or way (Nlite)?

I like Nlite, but have never used it to setup certain modes in XP, kewl stuff!

In respect of question 1 you would need to understand El-torito, see here for a general explanation into the booting process of not only "LiveXP" but many varied CD's, other methods exist also (Floppy Emulation) but essentially the ISO 9660 CD-ROM specification. http://en.wikipedia....D-ROM_standard) if you google search for it you will find lots of information. Also I think Winbuilder, from scripts builds a folder with pre-requiste files therein then uses a third party util like Mkisofs.exe by Joerg Schilling (GNU-GPL license) for building the ISO image.

For latest version check Joerg's FTP site. from here http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/#used a command line utility that with syntax switches, builds the .iso. if you are looking for specifics then I would not be able to tell you sorry!
In respect of question 2 you will to learn the basics of Mkisof.exe (Syntax) & BCD possibly found here http://www.nu2.nu/bcd/ or these details in respect of PEBuilder may offer clues!
These are the switches PEBuilder uses when it creates an ISO. I dont know if they work with the official WinPE OPK. They probably do, but you'll need to change all instances of bootsect.bin to the location of the bootsector that the WinPE OPK uses (I dont know this for sure... its just a guess as I dont have the WINPE OPK)

mkisofs.exe -J -N -joliet-long -no-iso-translate -volid "PE-Builder" -A PEBUILDER/MKISOFS -sysid "Win32" -b bootsect.bin -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -no-iso-translate -relaxed-filenames -hide bootsect.bin -hide boot.catalog -hide-joliet bootsect.bin -hide-joliet boot.catalog -o %2 %1

Where %2 is the ISO Path location and %1 is the Path to the WinPE CD structure.

cut & paste into address bar change "XX" to "tt" & you will get a script file & Mkisof.exe to boot
The only other advice I can give you is to build a "project" with build CD enabled & Log file also enabled then once created inpect the inner workings or progress report of the build in respect of .ISO's see here for how to for log.html http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=4355

About : Folder2Iso just creates an iso from any kind of folder (with the subfolders).
Its a GUI of mkisofs.
