Hi,

The tutorial section has grown with many guides and tutorials that teach good techniques and help other users to learn: http://www.boot-land...hp?showforum=68

This idea came as a suggestion from Jaclaz and we both agree that it's time to create a new member category to distinguish these members who often post good tutorials and documentation as a small token of appreciation for their effort along with better forum work conditions (nearly the same as the developers category)

So, all that is left to be done is choosing the new title for this new category.

Let's hear your ideas and once it's decided let's implement it.

Hope you like this idea.

;)

Hi all ;) ,

Hows about!

"O.B.1"

"May the Force be With You" LOL!

Can we be red in colour?

@ TheHive "We have come to Teach"

Here's another way of looking at it:
"We have "not" come here to Teach but to awaken" - wise words indeed!

Student: I would like to get to know you beyond the techniques and skills you could teach me. Would you be willing to answer a few questions?
Yes, certainly!

Q ~ Who is your most significant teacher?
A ~ Myself. Just as your most significant teacher is you. Provided you pay attention.

Q ~ How can you teach yourself something you don't already know?
A ~ First you have to ask the right questions. And then throw the full light of day into all the dark corners of yourself that you have hidden so skillfully from yourself. You have to be willing to dig up the buried parts of yourself and really look at them with no excuses. Then pay attention to what the daily happenings and relationships in your life present to you as teachings.

Q ~ What are the most important questions to ask?
A ~ Who am I? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going in this life & the next?? What do I need to learn from this to assist the evolution of my own consciousness? How can I use this (situation, event, relationship, etc.) to bring more love and light to the Planet? How can I best help co-create heaven on earth now, in this moment?
Your answers to these essential questions will change for you over time, so pay attention when each of these questions comes up again, as they will each time you look at them from a different perspective and from a different chronological age.

Allow me to quote from Richard Bach. Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it.

Just some superficial thoughts,

Regards & Best Wishes,

If you wanna be called OB1 you will have to screw up your sentences more! ;)
And if you screw them up too much, you'll get the title oracle!

Hi Everyone ;) ,

 here is an oracular utterance, (called khrēsmoi in Greek) "I'm very good @ screwing up my sentences especially after a bottle of red wine," I speak fluid "marshon" then!

"Let the padawans come"

Jaclaz obviously your "midichlorian" readings are off the scale, the force is strong with you "O Master Jaclaz".

Here's is my serious candidate or proposal & I will portray it with a screenshot to Illustrate what I mean:

I advocate illustrator we try to illustrate & awaken rather than teach or instruct, you guys are closer to being teachers than I ever could be!

The appropriate term for people that write tutorials should be "vulgarisers":
http://www.thefreedi....com/vulgariser
(second meaning)

or "popularisers":
http://www.thefreedi...com/populariser

Cannot say which one of the two "sounds" better in English. ;)

Illuminators seems fine to me, while Illuminati is maybe a bit pretentious...., Illustrators conveys better the idea, at least to me:
http://www.merriam-w...ry/illustrators

Or maybe "preceptors":
http://www.thefreedi...y.com/preceptor

I think that the title should be so simple that it is not misunderstood by some foreign members.
E.g. me as German (with low level English knowledge) hearing 'Illustrator' have the opinion about an artist making paints in comics. etc.

I suppose that something 'serious' is the best way and agree to the suggestion of the old fashioned 'Tutor', but with an attribute:
Senior Tutor

Peter

BTW: Sorry, Ispy, I always mark in blue.

Following your suggestion (to which I agree):

Senior Tutor

;)

Not, vulgariser
It seems to close to being vulgar.

How about,
Mentor's
mentor: a trusted friend, counselor or teacher, usually a more experienced person.

Hi all ;) ,

MedEvil - Illuminati, you wished!
No secret societies above script developers, here at boot-land!

Excuse me, 'Shocked & stunned', you mean we are not LOL! (nervous LOL!)
This is a crude definition of a "mentor"

This is the source of the modern use of the word mentor: a trusted friend, counselor or teacher, usually a more experienced person. Some professions have "mentoring programs" in which newcomers are paired with more experienced people in order to obtain good examples and advice as they advance, and schools sometimes have mentoring programs for new students or students who are having difficulties.

That desription does not really fit me (Mind you this is not only just about me either!)
If I was to describe a "Mentor" it is a expression with connotations of Very Experienced Individuals that you look up to for example Amalux in a previous posting said that Peter psc was his mentor. He was using it in the context of trusted friend counsellor & someone of experience. Whereas I feel that title would better fit you jaclaz, peter psc, MedEvil Galapo Nuno TheHive, developers & everyone else for that matter. Also the "senior" fits typically in respect of age but what if you get people/persons of a younger disposition writing excellent tutorials etc. Also "Senior" from another perspective has a flavour of elitetism.

I think that the title should be so simple that it is not misunderstood by some foreign members.
E.g. me as German (with low level English knowledge) hearing 'Illustrator' have the opinion about an artist making paints in comics. etc.

Yes, checking up in the english dictionary there is a slant towards your description.
What about something plain & simple like "Researcher" (I like this one) cuz afterall that is what we do or what about "Resourcer" (we provide resources) or "Guide" or "trainer" or "tutelage" but probably this word is a bit obscure & infers the act of.
Or if for the more uncomfortable approach "Consultant" but that infers specialism which really we are not.
Great "Brainstorming" session though

Thats the great thing about Mentor's. They dont have age requiremnts here. They also have experience that other beginners do not. Even if you have to do research to gain the knowledge in order to post the tutorial, In the future that tutorial you wrote might become youre own mentor. Sometimes we forget after a while what we write and how usefull it is, that is, until some one quotes it.

"Researcher" is not bad either

Hi again ;)

Two more for the melting pot! These are derived from a business arena, the two candidates are:
1) Enabler (One who enables or provides the tools to...)
2) Facilitator (A facilitator is someone who helps a group of people understand their common objectives and assists them to plan to achieve them)
@ TheHive, indeed I like "Reseacher" too
UMmmm Mentor, is for ones with higher skills personally that title is a bit pretentious (nice thought though)

@ ;) ,

Researcher, sounds like a lower grade finder to me.

NP I could live with that & it has the benefit of being plain & simple.

Or what about looking at it from a different angle something like

Tuts-4-U
guides-4-U
what about using a symbol instead something like  for instance or
Posted Image

Or an old fashioned approach what about "Scribe"
Or form the expression to Induct someone "Inductor"
or a straight forward approach "Instructor"

ispy

Germans tend towards compounded appellatives, Australians tend towards more minimalistic titles. Hence my preference if for the title 'Tutor'.
