Forum should be upgraded later tonight and visitors should expect some offline time - hopefully not long.

If you notice any glitch on the matrix that should be corrected - do post your comments here so that we can try to get them solved quickly.

Thanks!!!

I'm noticed nothing during the upgrade... and it is changing under my eyes ... and now it seems cool!

I don't like this new 'dark' theme and the font.
The new font is also very bad for my eyes (not a joke).
So I will always have to login now to get the old blue one

Two things have been better in the previous version:
  • The 'Search' formular appears in the 'more' version
  • A post contains in the foot area, which members visited tosay.

I thik he is going to be updating the addons once upgraded to the latest Forum software.

The who is online and the who has visited the posts is gone.
The list of users that had been on the forum is gone.

Hi..

Sorry for the delay on getting the missing addons back online - my network connection is very slow/faulty and I'll only get back to a good uplink next monday. (I took a good while just to post this reply..)

Peter - are you using the webber skin or the new one that comes by default on the new IPB called IP.Board Pro (it's the one holder was mentioning on his topic)?

The webber skin comes with the search box on top.

Every new version that is uploaded takes a while to modify it back to our changes - also took some time to see what has recently been made available.

...also it seems like something has been set as to use "html" like instead of "normal" BB codes for (links for example).

...and formatting text is not working anymore in my good ol' Opera, it seems like it tries to open a new window when I hit any of the "normal" buttons, like Quote, Code or b/i/u.

The left side ones Center, CODEBOX, etc, (and Insewrt Special Items) do work popping up a new window, though...

Pardon me the RANT, but I am really MAD at this.

The stupid, in my personal opinion perfectly unneeded update has "shortened" every single f*#§ing bl^%dy link I ever posted!

Only a handful that were short enough are still good.

That approximates to more than one year of posts suddenly becoming USELESS!

it will take WEEKS to correct all the links!

I want to cry.....

jaclaz

OKAY, for ANY post related to a board, it is possible to "recreate" the correct address, examples:

http://www.boot-land...LBA-tr...ions-t2959.html

becomes:

http://www.boot-land....php?showtopic=2959.html

working link:
http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=2959

http://www.911cd.net.../index.php?sho...19056&st=49

becomes:

http://www.911cd.net....php?showtopic=19056&st=49

working link:
http://www.911cd.net...o...19056&st=49

The links are not lost - please don't modify them until tomorrow or even later tonight.

I didn't added the friendly URL addon yesterday because I wanted to test a new addon from an offline forum on my own computer. This testing is needed to know if wether it is appropriate to use the older method which is not supported anymore or jump into these new developments that also improve other sections.

Updates are a necessary evil - otherwise our security will be rendered useless when the next script kiddie tries to explore known vulnerabilities on older board versions.

You might remember past episodes that ocurred over at 911cd when these caring souls hackessed the administration panels and brought mayhem to the forums.

Sorry for this annoyance.

----

About Opera - I've only noticed a patch for un/marked topic view, it seems that other people haven't reported it yet.

https://www.invision...p...wcat&id=221

Hopefully should also be reported soon enough.

hmmm....

SOME of the links pointing to boot-land are fixed and work now, the ones pointing elsewhere (those that were shortened) do not, nor do A LOT of the internal ones, check the ones in this thread:

Please give me some time to see how it can be restored - it's very difficult at this moment to know how to solve it.

I see that the posted link seems broken - but when I press the reply button to quote your answer the link seems to work just fine.

I thought this matter was related to the internal links which used the friendly URL system - it seems to be affecting all links that are long sized.

When upgrading, the post install instructions asked to run the clean up tools - I'm guessing that the clean up ended up doing a mess around here.

Will debug..

No prob, take your time.

In the meantime any user that cannot "decrypt" the links should be able to find the instructons in my previous post, as long as he gets in this thread.

Tried looking for solutions over these last few hours and know I realize that this is a serious software bug..

Nice to see how a big company knows about it and still won't publish a patch to correct things.

Here's the initial bug reports from other users:
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=2
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=2
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=2
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=9
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=7
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=7
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=7

The proposed solution:
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=3

And the reason why it happened:
http://forums.invisi...mp;bug_cat_id=4

The above solution hasn't seemed to solve the issues brought on already existent links. The only unfortunate solution is erasing everything that is not related to the URL itself and repost with these changes. On this topic for example I've only posted the URL without wrapping any bbcode and seems to be working fine.

Also reverted back to 2.2.2 version files that handled directly with this code, feels nice to have a lifetime license from IPB and expecting no support along with a few easter eggs such as these.

About the adjectives I previously used to describe this update, I may take back the "unneeded" if you agree on the "stupid".

BTW, still thinking along my "caveman" phylosophy:
if ain't broken don't fix it...

Since updating, visiting indicators in "New posts" work correctly
only for "Red" indicators, but "Blue" are always dark?

Another present from our "friends" on the IPB central.

I already regreat this buggy update and can hardly believe how so many developers let a version like this be made available and published as their latest release which still fools other people onto the same update even after so many complaints are made.

It's corrected now - please press the "Mark all posts as read" and should be corrected for good, thanks for mentioning it.

Thank you, but I don't like the "Webber" skin!

It means, that every time I would like to reach Download,
I must change skin twice!?

Hi, psc!

A post contains in the foot area, which members visited today.

Maybe there was before too, but I'm not sure.
However, I think that it's an uni-directional information only...

Like "jaclaz docet" it is a sign, but not a proof (I mean "opposite-proof", then surely not casting out nines)...

That feature "remembers" logged users only, and if an user reads not logged... ... ...

@ Nuno

Hoping it's a few useful: recently, during and after forum-software updating, this type of page is shown often (please, see the screenshot).

Online - thanks for posting the screenshot - that is an old bug that most browsers hide.

It occured because I resinstalled the mod and reset the old file, editing the file and reuploading with the correct changes should now make everything work ok.

Phox - I've edited the IP.board pro skin - you can now click on the link on top of of the page just like the other options, hope it looks better now.

Couldn't manage to make the left bar stay skinned as the forum, maybe the development team for mkportal can provide a solution for these new skins.
