Booting hard disk images in GRUB4DOS

Hello!

So far, under Virtual PC, I've been having a wonderful time multibooting the following operating systems: Windows 95B, OS/2 Warp, FreeDOS, Puppy Linux and Damn Small Linux in the latest GRUB4DOS releawe (v0.4.6a, 2016-04-26).

I also managed to boot MS-DOS off of a 128 MB raw hard disk image, run Floppy Bird, Memtest86+, Windows Memory Diagnostics and the Hardware Detection Tool.

I'm just curious to ask.

One of the OSes that I'm multi-booting from, the FreeDOS maintenance partition currently has 6.73 GB of free disk space out of of the 7.98 GB.

1. Is it possible to install Windows NT 3.51 or Windows NT 4.0 inside a 500 MB hard disk image to boot under GRUB4DOS? At one time, I tried to install these OSes, but it wouldn't properly recognise the hard disk image or would throw out a BSOD.

2. What other OSes can be installed inside a RAW hard disk image or VHD (up to 500 MB) that can be booted in GRUB4DOS?

1. I think it is possible. you need to have firadisk or WinVblock running for your Windows. Search detailed info on the Internet for firadisk and winvblock, both of which are open-source-software.

I use the Microsoft MS-DOS Editor under MS-DOS 6.22 to edit the MENU.LST file. The hard disk images are stored in the \BOOT directory on (hd0,6).
